Cascades Raptor Center
Cascades Raptor Center is a 501c3 non-profit Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital for birds of prey. The Raptor Center houses nearly 50 avian ambassadors.
Cascades Raptor Center has two main community services:
Public Education designed to enhance the awareness, respect, appreciation, and care of the earth and all its inhabitants so critical for a balanced and healthy planet. These resident birds, along with visual media and written material, help create a positive, first-hand experience of wildlife through field trip visits to the Nature Center a
Thank you so much to Cetan Funds for their continued support of our mission over the years! ♥️
Making Friday night plans? Drop by Ninkasi Tasting Room this Friday, August 9th, where $1 from every pint sold will benefit the birds! Come drop by and say hi! (Plus, we hear that Trivia starts that night at 7PM!)
Our hospital is very busy! Here are just a few of the many patients that are being cared for right now:
Picture #1: This is one of many young Coopers Hawks in the hospital who fell out of their nest. We have successfully re-nested a few of these little guys and continue to try to re-nest the rest.
Picture #2: This Green Heron nestling has some serious bed head. After being on the ground for a day and no nest to be found they are now in our care until they are big enough to be released.
Pictures #3: Both of these Western Screech Owl fledglings found their way on some peoples porch. These two are flying very well and will be released soon!
Picture #4: This Northern Pygmy Owl flew into a window with some minor head trauma. They are already showing great improvement and will be released soon!
Picture #5: This Red-Tailed Hawk was found in a bush with a drooping wing. Finding that they had a left shoulder injury this hawk had lots of rest to heal. This beautiful bird made a full recovery and was released a few days ago.
Want to contribute to the care of these feathered patients? 🪶 You can help by donating to https://cascadesraptorcenter.org/donate/. All donations go directly to helping us continue to provide care to the wildlife pictured here and the other 50+ patients in our hospital.
Found an injured animal? Please call our raptor hotline at 541-485-1320 ext. 1
Looking for a way to support the birds in our care during this heatwave? Join us this Friday at Alesong Countryside Brewery! Throughout the entire day, a portion of sales will go back to supporting Cascades Raptor Center and the birds in our care. From 5PM to 7PM, CRC have a table present with activities, so make sure to stop by, grab a drink and a bite to eat, and say hello!
As temperatures hit record highs this week, so have our patient numbers in the wildlife hospital. Staff are working day and night to care for the injured and orphaned birds, many of which prematurely left their nests due to the extreme heat and have become injured or orphaned. Our clinic is full of babies: Cooper's Hawks, Screech Owls, Barn Owls, Stellar Jays, and Crows (to name a few). Whenever possible we reunite babies with their families.
You can help make this time easier for local wildlife by placing dishes/shallow containers of water out in your yard. Change the water frequently and place a rock in larger containers so that small wildlife can safely drink and cool down.
You can also assist us by donating to https://cascadesraptorcenter.org/donate/. All donations go directly to helping us continue to provide care to the wildlife pictured here and the other 50+ patients in our hospital.

It’s baby season and our hospital staff have been busy caring for some pretty big babies🦅
The nest of these baby Bald Eagles collapsed causing them to fall and subsequently get struck by falling branches. These two eaglets were admitted into our hospital each with a broken leg. Although their prognosis is still very guarded, they have already had their casts replaced by splints and their fractures feel a lot more stable! They have been getting stronger and gaining weight. Hospital staff have been caring for them around the clock to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Want to contribute to the care of these eaglets? Consider making a donation to help support our work in saving Oregon’s beautiful raptors! Donations can be made on our website with the link in our bio.
Max the Peregrine Falcon is rolling into the long weekend! Cascades Raptor Center is open this Monday, Memorial Day, from 10 AM to 5 PM!
Happy ! Did you know there are billions of birds on the wing right now trying to make it to their seasonal homes? Some species travel thousands of miles each spring, flying continuously for days at a time.
Ways you can help:
1. Encourage insects, which are vital food for many migrating birds. Don't use pesticides and let ground litter lie. The Swainson's Hawk (pictured) lives almost entirely off of grasshoppers in its summer range.
2. Reduce light pollution around your home or business. Many migrating species travel at night and can be disoriented by urban lighting.
3. Protect windows against bird strikes. Apply opaque markings across the whole window exterior 2 inches apart, which helps birds see the window as an obstacle, not a clear flight path. (Hint: you can see this in action at our nature center the next time you visit!)
You don’t want to miss this stunning raptor art exhibition now up at the Springfield City Hall Gallery! Showcasing over 60 works of art, Raptors of the Pacific Northwest features Oregon artists and their portraits of birds of prey found in the Pacific Northwest. The juried exhibition includes a selection of artists from the 2024 Cascades Raptor Center’s Raptor Art Challenge. Highlighting Owls, Eagles, Falcons, Osprey, Hawks, and Vultures, each artwork provides a unique perspective capturing the artist’s relationship to a raptor species. The pieces span mediums from woodwork to cross stitch, gourde sculpture, felting, painting, wearables, and more. Many of the works of art are listed for sale! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to raptor care and environmental education. Join us on Friday, May 10 from 5 – 7pm for the Springfield Art Walk!

Our Story
Through wildlife rehabilitation and public education, the Cascades Raptor Center fosters a connection between people and birds of prey. Our goal is to help the human part of the natural community learn to value, understand, and honor the role of wildlife in preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest.
To accomplish this, the Raptor Center has two primary means:
Rehabilitation and release of orphaned, sick, and injured wildlife, primarily birds of prey (raptors), using the highest standards of medical treatment and care, and the best facilities possible.
Public Education designed to enhance the awareness, respect, appreciation, and care of the earth and all its inhabitants so critical for a balanced and healthy planet. The Raptor Center’s large collection of resident birds used in programming creates a positive, first-hand experience of wildlife through on-site visits to our Nature Center and off-site presentations and exhibits at schools and public events.
