The Film Commission would like to wish Sandra Bullock, the star of Bird Box, a happy 60th birthday! Born on July 26th, 1964, Bullock has starred in over 50 films and has been a producer on over 15 film and television projects.

Bird Box was filmed in Del Norte County in January 2018. Filming during the off-peak season, when we don’t usually experience tourism of that size, helped boost the economy. Filming over 14 days, the production spent $901,892 directly into Del Norte's economy and $96,000 directly into Humboldt's economy. Local crew was hired to work on the film, as well.

Please drop by the Redwood Coast Museum of Cinema to view props from local productions and learn how every project transforms our community.

On this day in Star Wars History, Actor Rohan Nichol was born. Some may not know him but he played the role of Captain Raymus Antilles, that first made an appearance in STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE.

When offered the role, he didn't know which Antilles he would play and thought he might be Wedge. Once he got to set of STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH, he learned which role he would take on.

What was a character in the original Star Wars Trilogy that you were excited to see make an appearance in the prequel trilogy?
