I'm in the planning stages of a reboot of The Music Box, a painting I did in 2017 for the Elizabeth Hotel. This new one will also be about 5 feet wide. It’s going to be a challenge working on this beauty while living in our RV!

I got three little ocean themed paintings all framed up. Yes, they'll look great in the loo, I'm not at all ashamed to admit it. ;)

Well, I just met a type of paper I have never used before, and yes, of course, I am in LOVE. Again. :)

Hello, Vellum Paper! Well... fake vellum paper. Historically, vellum was made from calfskin, but modern vellum is made from cellulose just like other papers. It's created by brutally beating and processing cellulose fibers until there is no air present, resulting in dense, smooth, sheets you can see right though. You've probably seen it used a ton in making fancy wedding invitations.

At any rate, it is super smooth, erases easily, and you can draw on both sides to create super cool effects. I'm dying over here trying tons of experiments (with varying levels of success, gah.)

I named him Muffy.

Happily, I will be showing with a truly incredible group of artists from all around the world at the grand opening of Petaluma's newest art sweetheart, Nanny Goat Gallery. Since our new art studio is mobile, I get to be there in person, and I can't wait to press my eyeballs up against all the amazing art that will be hanging there. *gets eyeballs ready for serious pressing*

I've been without my studio space for a bit, but at least watercolor paints can easily go with you anywhere. :)

Doing a little painting in my temporary backyard. Bug tent required!

I'm in the second stage of this underpainting in progress. This layer is called "grisaille", or "the dead layer". It builds up solidity in the areas where the light hits the form, and gives me some cold colors to use for balance and variety beneath the warm skin tones of the next few layers.

You gotta BE the light you wanna see in the world. :p

I've been a bit scarce on the internets lately because I'm preparing for a journey.
