Ferndale’s Victorian Inn was a beautiful venue to officiate Craig and Michelle’s ceremony last week! Thanks to the staff who were so attentive and helpful.

Taylor and Liz had such talented families! They made all of the centerpieces and the vases. The ceramic vases were favors for guests to take. They were stunning! Miranda Gardens Resort is always a beautiful venue.

The monthly mixer of the Wedding and Event Industry Professionals NorCal networking group is this coming Tuesday evening. What a beautiful two days! The 38th annual CSU Research Competition was at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo yesterday and today. Humboldt had 5 competitors with fantastic presentations. Humboldt hosts next year and I was privileged to accompany the team and staff so we can provide a smooth and successful experience for everyone in 2025.

Placed a linen order for a couple of April events this morning. The company that I use has them on my porch several days before the event and we ship the dirty ones back in a big duffel bag with the prepaid shipping label already attached. So much textures and more than 50 colors to choose from. Sparkly, shimmery, velvety, lacey, denim, burlap, prints, or your standard black or white! We use various charts to show you the coverage with different sizes on high top cocktail tables, banquet tables, and the fun shaped tables. This is just an example.

When You Share an Anniversary With an Eclipse A number of couples are choosing to marry during the upcoming total solar eclipse. Several cities in the path of totality are holding mass weddings.

Looking at the calendar, I'm so grateful for the variety of events Celebration Boulevard gets to plan and coordinate! We post a lot of wedding photos but we keep it interesting with conferences, company parties, fundraisers for dozens of non-profits, the We Said YES! We Said Yes Wedding Show, Celebration of Life, grad parties, proposals, etc. Variety is the spice of life, right?!

Just finished helping one of our couples with a seating chart this morning. Guests may not realize how much thought and consideration, not to mention time, goes into putting this together. Some of what we take into account: family members who may not get along well, college friends who may not know anyone else, room for wheelchairs, how many in the party, etc. If you switch tables, it can cause a domino effect and cause challenges you won't have any idea about. If you don't love where you were seated, please just stick it out for dinner. Then you can hang out anywhere you like and the couple will thank you!

Sorting photos from a few 2023 weddings this morning. Realized I haven't posted anything from Teddy and Amira's gorgeous day at Lost Coast Ranch! This couple had a vision of having friends and family together for an epic experience! All 18 rooms plus Oasis Tent Rentals' bell tents were filled with wedding guests. Game night Thursday, Murder Mystery on Friday night and Olympics on the deck Saturday morning kept everyone having a grand time! Lost Coast Ranch kept them well fed the entire time. Such a fun couple to work with!

Today is the 4th annual We Said YES! We Said Yes Wedding Show. I'm really proud of our industry. The collaboration, the creativity, the joy in helping people celebrate. I start working on the show about a week after the previous year and I think the Show gets better each year. This year we have a Wedding Ring Dive sponsored by Sugar Bear Baking Company and Abraxas Jewelers. Education talks, about $20k being given away in prizes, and we have figured out how to keep everyone warm and dry when they arrive! You don't have to be planning a wedding to attend. You'll find all kinds of services for other events, too. 12-3 at Redwood Acres. $5 entry at the door.

One of the events that we are most proud of producing is the annual We Said YES! Wedding Show. When this Show was being developed, there were some VERY important aspects for us.
- It is a "wedding" show, not a "bridal" event because there isn't always a bride. EVERYONE should enjoy the process of planning a wedding and feel included.
- The name of the show includes "We" because grooms are so often left out. We see you!
- We surveyed vendors who participate in shows to see what they liked and didn't about those and attempted to make is a great experience for them.
The result was that we outgrew our venue in year one and attendance has grown in both vendors and attendees every single year. This year, we've added a Wedding Ring Dive, pro education in several areas, opportunities to win more raffle tickets at the Axe Box, and so many great vendors.
We hope to see you at Redwood Acres on March 3rd from 12-3. $5 at the door.

Today is 20 years since the first CA same-sex marriages took place. It was a bumpy path to legalization for all US states but Happy Anniversary to all!

US District Judge John Heyburn, in the July 1 opinion against Kentucky's same-sex marriage ban: "Sometimes, by upholding equal rights for a few, courts necessarily must require others to forebear some prior conduct or restrain some personal instinct. Here, that would not seem to be the case. Assuring equal protection for same-sex couples does not diminish the freedom of others to any degree. Thus, same-sex couples' right to marry seems to be a uniquely 'free' constitutional right. Hopefully, even those opposed to or uncertain about same-sex marriage will see it that way in the future."
