We just had to share!

I'm excited to share a truly remarkable outcome from my Functional Bodywork practice. One of my long-term clients had been struggling to conceive for over a year. Despite numerous doctor's appointments, no medical explanation was found. Just as I completed my Pregnancy class, in the Functional Bodywork Course, she reached out for help.

During her session, I discovered significant tension in her uterus and bladder, which I was able to release through bodywork. While her subsequent pregnancy last year ended in miscarriage, it was a hopeful sign. After another session to address renewed tension in her uterus, I'm thrilled to share that she's now happily 23 weeks pregnant!

This experience is a powerful testament to the incredible potential of Functional Bodywork. It's truly amazing to witness the body's ability to heal and restore itself. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to support my clients on their journeys to wellness.

Does getting your arms overhead seem out of reach?

For some of us the aging process, accidents or diabetes can limit the range of motion of our shoulders and arms. The muscle underneath the shoulder blades can get fibrous and sticky. Or, an accident can damage the shoulder’s range of motion. By releasing the muscle under the shoulder blade, the arms are freed and able to reach higher and eventually overhead. Functional Bodywork has a few treatments for this.

In Functional Bodywork, symptoms are seen as a map; they are not the end of the investigation into the cause of disease, but the beginning.

Happy Holidays to all of you!

While the office will be closed January 4-9(I'll be back in school learning treatments to relieve pain in the neck, shoulders, arms and hands), I have opened the previous and following Monday January 2nd, and Tuesdays January 3rd & 10th. I have also opened Monday & Tuesday December 26th & 27th.Because of the limits of my scheduling program, please call or text me to schedule your session on any of these dates.

Another opportunity: Please let me know if you would like to be in my practice group - what this means is that I am taking 5 people after each school module to practice what I learn and attend to any other concerns you might have.. Cost for these sessions is $70. If you're interested, please email, call or text and I will add you to the list.

Hip Discomfort? Lower Back Pain?

I hope you are enjoying your summer and have some time to enjoy the sunshine. I love going to the lake each morning and sitting by the water. We are so lucky to have Lake Michigan right here.

I just returned from training on the hips and how their displacement can cause all kind of changes in our skeletal system. I had no idea that my own hips were so skewed, one torqued to the front the other torqued to the back. Wow! The treatments were... ahem... somewhat uncomfortable and a little invasive, but I have to say, that as my body is integrating the work, I'm standing taller and my abdomen is sitting so much better in my pelvis. Another benefit is that my lower back isn't getting tweaked, even though I never had bad back pain, I would need to do a good amount of stretching to stand for long periods of time.

The hips are soooo important as you probably already know.

Advanced Functional Bodywork?

As happens sometimes in life, I asked for more, and received an opportunity that I didn't even know existed. Beginning January 6, 2022 I am training in Advanced Functional Bodywork, a fairly new concept in the healing/health field where different modalities are combined to achieve normalization of the body. Functional Bodywork believes in treating the person as a whole being, working in all systems of the body using different modalities to find and treat core issues instead of just symptoms. Learning how each organ affects the muscles, ligaments and fascia is truly mind blowing - and makes SOOO much sense and a huge difference in the body! Instead of separating the parts of the body, this work brings congruency and a truly holistic approach to healing. My learning will continue for the next 2 years and I can hardly contain my excitement.

What does this mean for you? Well, if you feel like either of the two guys on the right in the picture above, you may want to come for a session. That tight neck and achy shoulder will thank you!!!
