An update on ParksFest 2023 and beyond.
Happy Jacobsville Day, everyone. Garvin Park is the jewel of the area, and we're thankful for the volunteers we have that help keep it clean before, during and after the festival. There would be no ParksFest without our volunteers.

Today we introduce you to Cage Willis!
Massive, in-your-face guitar tones, even wider drums, and full, out-front, honest vocals in “She Walked Away” are typical of Willis’ sound. Chris Robertson of Black Stone Cherry produced the upcoming album, titled "Who I Am". Ensuring a superior quality of sound and highest standards of production, the album was engineered by Jordan Westfall Shaman's Harvest
Cage was born and raised in Mount Carmel, IL. While working with his father roofing and remodeling homes in Wabash County, he squeezed in required courses to graduate from the local community college at age 18. He started playing guitar at 13. Heavily influenced by Lincoln Brewster, Cage would play big, heart-wrenching guitar solos at area churches. His authentic sound began to emerge.
During the summer of 2017, Cage crossed paths with drummer Cameron Allen. Jamming on the likes of Gary Clark Jr., Chris Stapleton, and The Marcus King Band, the two knew that they wanted to continue to play together. They first performed in early 2019 as a two piece at a “Battle of the Bands” in Evansville, IN. Bass Guitarist Andrew Logan joined Cage and Cameron at the beginning of 2020. Today, they continue to perform together live at local venues, and opening for acts like The Cold Stares even Hairball. Cage released his first single in early 2021. Over the course of the year, Cage recorded and released Bones (Our Town), an EP. You can checkout his latest single “Home to You” and the video 👇🏻

It’s once again time to meet more of your ParksFest music makers! Today we introduce Georgia Funkadelic!
Georgia Funkadelic is a six-piece electric groove band from Evansville, IN (USA). They are a group of musically-talented friends whom come together to make magic.
The music they create is called groove music. What is groove music? Any music that makes you feel good, especially that which is hard to resist dancing to.
The first album called 'Georgia's Pool Party', recorded with nineteen various local Evansville musicians, records the portrayal of difficult times and getting through them. The album is follows a historical timeline of love lost to love found.
The second album (EP) is 'Georgia's After Party', a collection of instrumental groove songs. Put it on and dance, vibe, groove and just feel it. The album follows the path of receiving an invitation to an after-party, and finalized with the collective experience in relationship building.
Musical influences are varied, and include Grateful Dead, Beastie Boys, The Meters, The New Mastersounds, and Talking Heads. Maybe also Perfume Genius, Lady Gaga, and Run the Jewels.
Come have fun with us!!
Time to meet your music makers! Faerie Ring hail from right here in Evansville and have been melting faces with unabashed heavy riff’d rock n roll!
From “The Obelisk”
“Sometimes I get on kind of a high-horse around here and talk about bands like they’re shifting paradigms for all eternity and hyperbole this and that and whatever. I know it. I get excited. It’s part of the thing, if the thing is being passionate about music. And I try to curb it when I can. But something comes along like the streaming Faerie Ring track “Lost Wind” and it’s a reminder of what it’s really all about. It’s not furthering some grand aesthetic vision or whatever. It’s having a good time. And I don’t mean that like whoa-brah party rock like it’s cool-kids thing and you’re not invited if your Instagram brand isn’t super-hot right now. I mean like it’s about getting together with friends, creating something that, yes, is art, but that is also a personal expression of where you’re at and, occasionally — just occasionally — can also be a lot of fun. I hear “Lost Wind” in its unabashed appreciation of volume and tonal weight and think, not about it changing the universe, but about how much fun that s**t must be to play on a stage in front of some friends and whoever else has shown up. I like that thought. I like this song.

ParksFest Musician Highlight: From the heart of the Commonwealth, you don't want to miss LaTasha Shemwell Music at ParksFest on Saturday, Oct. 1 in Garvin Park. LaTasha blends R&B, hip-hop and neo-soul with a contemporary pop vibe. To quote her, "my music and style is a complete good mood!" LaTasha is usually a solo perfomer, but she will be joined by a band at ParksFest.
