๐ข Did You Know? ๐ข
Memorial High School has a deep-rooted connection with the Brothers of Holy Cross, the same order that founded Notre Dame University. Back in the day, our football team proudly wore hand-me-down uniforms from Notre Dame, sporting the iconic green and white jerseys!
To celebrate 100 years of tradition and our historic ties, you'll notice a lot of Kelley green in our 100-year series games this year. It's a nod to our past and our enduring connection with Notre Dame and the Brothers of Holy Cross. ๐
๐จ๐ Spanish 3 Takes on La Tomatina! ๐ช๐ธ๐
Our Spanish 3 students recently dove into the colorful chaos of La Tomatina, the world-famous tomato-throwing festival in Buรฑol, Spain! After reading an article in Spanish about this vibrant tradition, they brought the experience to life with a fun color-by-number activity based on what they learned.
Who says you're too old to enjoy a bit of coloring? Learning a language has never been so much fun! ๐๐
๐ ๏ธ A Special Thanks to the University of Evansville and the Friends of the Peters-Margedant House ๐

๐ถ Music Appreciation๐ถ
Last week, our very own Mrs. Lui, the beloved Chinese teacher, brought the enchanting sounds of the Guzheng to our music appreciation class. The room was filled with awe as she skillfully played traditional melodies, offering us a unique glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of China. It was a beautiful experience that left us all inspired and eager to learn more!

๐ A Memorable Day at Memorial High School! ๐
Today, we gathered as a school community for an inspiring assembly where we introduced our new core values and mission statement to our students. Rooted deeply in our strong connection with the Brothers of Holy Cross, these values will guide us as we continue to build on our legacy.
Our mission statementโReitz Memorial High School calls each student to be more like Christ through the formation of the whole person while instilling a love for lifelong learning, service to others, and our rich traditionsโreflects our commitment to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, and moral growth of every student.
We also unveiled our Holy Cross Core Values:
Trust in God's Providence
Educating Hearts and Minds
Integrity
Excellence
Zeal
Service
Self-Discipline
Family
Together, we are more than just a school; we are a family dedicated to living out these values every day. Let's continue to strive for greatness in all we do, inspired by our faith and traditions.
๐ Engineering in Action at Memorial High School! ๐ง
Our Intro to Engineering students are taking their learning to the next levelโliterally! This week, they got hands-on with water guns to test horizontal launch velocities. ๐๐
By measuring the distance and time it takes for the water to hit the target, students are calculating the speed and trajectory of their "projectiles." It's a splash-tastic way to bring physics and engineering principles to life! ๐งโ๐ง๐

This summer, seven seniors attended the Holy Cross Conference for Student Leadership in South Bend at Holy Cross College. Holy Cross schools from various states in the US gathered together to learn from the Brothers and to share experiences with each other.
This conference was a kick off event for a group of students who will lead their classmates this year in learning about and living out our newly adopted core values.
