I can’t think of a better way to launch the Planet Mynd Play Lab concept than with a full mariachi band!
🤗
It was perfect serendipity.
I’m thrilled that allowed me to be part of their event today. Great turnout, great tacos, great fun.
Planet Mynd is the store within my store. It is so much more than a “Nerf play zone.” It is a place where you can play with and learn about the REAL cool blasters, a place where you can let your imagination run in a reactive environment, where you can get away from the ho-hum games and build play modes that are more engaging than video games. Planet Mynd Play Lab is, well, like playing on a different planet.
Drop in and check it out. I will be running some Black Friday play specials and other events next week. See you soon.
Help me upgrade the Armory!
I have my eye on a fantastic blaster play system from called . I want to give players the ability to imagine themselves as more than soldiers, warriors, and police; I want them to see themselves as superheroes, cyberpunk denizens, mages, and everything in between. The Little Rocket platform allows kids to play the way they want, creating abilities, problem-solving, and chasing each other around.
That means switching out most of my Armory’s Nerf brand blasters to bring in Little Rockets.
Come in this Friday or Sunday (I am closed for an off-site event on Saturday) and grab some blasters for only $2-5. Great for stocking stuffers, or adding some extra fun to your annual Christmas Day Nerf Battle.
Some attachments and magazines will be available for purchase as well. Every purchase allows you to take a fistful of FREE darts!
For the best selection, show up early.

First time voting since moving to Washington state. Feels so good. And washington makes it so easy!
A bunch of easy choices, including for city council, and .
If you are unsure how to vote and live in Everett, please head to the snohomish county campus in and they will take care of you. And you still have time. Open until 8pm.
You matter and your vote matters!
I enjoyed a very special Sunday. I was feeling low today, the kind of low where coffee and even a nice lunch wasn’t helping.
I’m so glad I pushed myself to attend the social hosted by . Thanks for hosting.
The highlight was showing support for my friend . She is running a tough race for . We need her experience, voice, and thoughtful and compassionate approach to policy-making on our council. If you are an Everett resident, please, please register to vote and please, please show your support for labor rights, housing affordability, community safety, and sustainable economic development by voting for Demi!
It was soul-nourishing to mingle and meet other folks in my community, including .
The first step in MyMyToyStore being a hub and resource for the foam-flinging community in NW Washington— stepping up our blaster game.
I am busy adding pro performance level foam blasters to the Nerf Armory. So I’m building my first blaster— the Jupiter! Along with blasters we will be upgrading and some cool stuff on the way, soon players will be able to enjoy pro-level play indoors!
Day 1 & 2 are going well, as far as I can tell. The build video that provides is very helpful and comprehensive. Also thank you for your videos. The ones on soldering were extremely helpful.
On Day 1, and I took the first steps of the build, putting switches and triggers into place, putting a few screws into place, and installing the flywheels.
Day 2 the real test began— soldering. After a bunch of practice (thanks again to outofdarts and captain xavier for great tutorial videos), we were able to complete the circuits for all the red wires for the blaster.
Day 3 should be the last day— soldering the black wires, and final assembly. I can’t wait to test this on the zone!
Holy Wintertide, Batman! It was fun to return to this week. This time to pitch an idea for at the annual washington main street conference. We were 1 of 6 downtown associations pitching ideas to receive funding for a community project.
It was nerve-wracking and fun to pitch the idea to a room full of strangers. I was so pleasantly shocked that we received enough votes to be 2nd place. Which means the project will receive $1000!!! I am so thrilled!
Thank you downtown everett association for taking a chance on an idea and a chance on letting me pitch it.
So now, MyMyPlay Field at the corner of Oakes and Hewitt will become a Wintertide Village this Holiday season. Come check out the village of mini wooden houses that will be decorated by local community organizations. Come revel in the weekend events, including games and sing-alongs.
A special thanks to the for hosting the week-long revitalizewa conference. Great sessions, great people, great energy around improving Washington state communities.
And congrats to for winning the pitch competition. Community pools are vital to the health of a community.
I’m still buzzing. Thank you for a fantastic experience. Our foam-flinging hobby community is sooo welcoming and fun.
It was so great to meet all the folks in the PNW who are helping us take nerf fun to a new level— Luke and . You guys rock!
It was great to tour the outofdarts operations and see what they’ve achieved. The print farm is a wonder to behold! Loved trying out some dream blasters, from the Outlaw to the Unicorn to the ridiculously fun Momentum.
I also really, really appreciated the generosity. I came away with a steal on a Jupiter, a ridiculous haul on some awesome hard-to-find blasters, and a bag full of FREE parts to take foam-flinging in our Nerf arena to the NEXt level. You guys didn’t have to show this much love to the community. It is much appreciated.
See you guys again soon, I hope.
More photos and video tomorrow.
I’m up pre-dawn today. Today is open house. , and I are making the trek to their Vancouver warehouse. I feel like I’m mail g a pilgrimage. I am so excited that I could barely sleep last night. Excited to dive deeper into the foam-flinging world by connecting with one of its most enthusiastic producers.
So today the store will be closed. I will return with grand tales from my journey.
I recently watched Quantumania, the Ant-Man and Wasp . To say it was not good is an understatement. It was by far the worst Marvel movie ever made. I mean worse than Dolph Lundgren’s Punisher, worse than Howard the Duck, worse than The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
To find out how it used incoherent and racist storytelling to arrive at that unfortunate distinction, read the full review. Link in bio.
When I approached and her sister Kia Sajjad a few months ago about creating a vibrant, visual celebration of Afrofuturism, I did not know I would be courting controversy with .
Yet, here I am. MyMyToyStore was informed earlier this week that it cannot be part of the Everett ArtWalk again until it commits to participating every month. But I won’t commit my company to something without knowing exactly what I’m committing it to. The fledgling organization has not released any of its requirements or guidelines for participation. Instead, MyMyToyStore’s request was denied while they’re still working on it.
That approach is contrary to the spirit of an ArtWalk and the very mission statement that I helped the create.
“We are an open and accepting collective that curates exciting artistic experiences highlighting Everett’s vibrant visual and performing arts community.”
So come see what all the fuss is about today from 5-8pm. Meet the artists. And have fun coloring some pages with us. Prints and original art will be available for sale.
Join us this Thursday for a very special Everett ArtWalk event. MyMy Play Zone will transport you into an Afrofuture. Explore context and context in visual art, music, fashion, and storytelling, featuring the bold future visions of artists Asantawa Al-Kazim and Kia Sajjad.
Original art, as well as prints available for purchase.
Free Admission. 5-8pm
The library is one of my sanctuaries. When I am feeling down (and I am feeling down today), this is one of my go-to places for uplift and renewal.
Libraries are the single greatest institution created by human civilization. Inside, I exercise my liberty to engage, enrich, and educate myself.
I’ve been going to libraries for decades now. Growing up, reading was one of the few ways I was permitted to rest. And because education was prized in my family, I would get more rest if I had my nose in a book than in front of a TV.
I became aware sometime late last year, that I also frequent libraries to receive messages from the Universe. I let myself be guided to roam and pick and try different things. Stating the obvious, I won’t know the messages until I dig into the text, film, comic, or movie. The excitement of anticipation is overwhelming. I am so looking forward to the “A-Ha” moments as my brain makes new connections with the input of information, stories, perspectives, and artistic stimuli.
What messages do you think are contained within?
In a blog post on my site, I briefly reflect on my experience 22 years ago in lower Manhattan. For me, it has taken that long to reach a point of reflection.

We have a few weeks of warm-ish weather left. Let’s make the most of it with some outdoor blaster games.

We will have plenty of darts, eye and face protection, and gear available. Some high performance blasters will be available for us for an additional fee.
From 10:30am-Noon, we will play various game modes, inclung Squad Match, Capture the Flag, and Attack & Defend. We welcome game mode suggestions and twists.

We are super-stoked for our last All Ages Nerf Blaster Event of the month. We are pulling out all the stops. In honor of the Everett Beer & Food Truck Festival, we’ve designed a Dart Pong game with Nerf Rival Blasters. If you’re 16&Up, this will be sooo much fun. No alcohol is involved.
On another part of the field, we will run HvZ games all day. Zombies always win, but it’s still a lot of fun trying to hold out as humans.
On another part of the field, we will run various solo and squad games, like Squad Match, Capture the Flag, Freeze Tag, Quick Draw, Battle Royale and more.
And because we have the Washington State Toy Fair in town, we will have an EARLY start at 9AM!!! Come and play till 4PM.
Only $5/Player for unlimited play. Stamped re-entry is permitted.
See you on the field.
Looking forward to this talk today. Hopefully I will scare away fewer customers!😯
Today at 5pm. The location has changed. It’s at the Hanson Conference Room at .
The Upgraded In-Store Nerf Play Zone is Open for Business. This weekend, the space received a through Beta testing from 3 groups. I ran them through rounds of squad match, capture the flag, quick draw, and freeze tag. We worked up a sweat, giggled and laughed, and enjoyed the high-intensity play. The padded floors allow players to roll, slide, and crawl without worrying about bumps and bruises.
The size of the zone allows for comfortable use of full-length dart, mega dart, ultra dart, and even Rival play.
Visit the link in our bio or visit our website to reserve a time for your group. Only $5/15 mins for each player.

"You have to stop buying toys,"
she said one evening in June 2011. Against my wife's advice, I tried an idea that could pay for all the Iron Man, Star Wars, and animal toys I was buying my son. I spent $400 on clearance toys at a few big box retailers and listed them on eBay. Within a month, I sold them all for a profit. The experiment successful, I launched MyMyToyStore, an online toy and collectibles company.
From these humble beginnings in retail arbitrage on weekends while I practiced law during the week, I scaled the company into an operation that purchases directly from manufacturers and satisfies its customers from a custom-built, in-house fulfillment center.
This remains the only time I'm glad I didn't listen to my wife.
