Toms Yellow Cab
Taxi driver for Snohomish County Yellow Cab. Thomas Dumaine
Badge #465 Currently recovering from cancer surgery (04/27/2022), returned 08/01/2022
It must be the full moon.....
A no pay tonight. Talked about how he is a pastor and his foot problem (picked up at Providence).
When we got to the dropoff (motel 6) he hopped right out, cussed at me, and went in to rent a room without paying.
Police come, he tells them hospital is paying (account), so they call the hospital. Hospital security (answered the police phone call) thinks it's a "forgotten" voucher, and sends me back to Providence.
Well the charge nurse says no, there isn't a forgotten voucher because they told him no, he had to pay. Back to motel 6 I go.
Get back there, he is gone so I get to talk to the officer again. This time it was to file a charge of theft.
His $28 taxi ride turned into $118.23 with all the waiting for the police and back and forth driving.
I have tried reaching out to his wife but no response.
People need to understand when this happens, it's not yellow cab that doesn't get paid. I pay them my lease.
When this happens, me and my family are going to go without something.
My how time flies when you're having fun.
Two major milestones this month!
The first one is I have now been driving for 5 years.
The second one is I am now up to 500,000 miles accident free 😊
I made 16 sack lunches.
A peanut butter sandwich, chips, an apple, and a juice box.
I handed them out up and down Broadway 😊
Payment link for people on Facebook 😊
Today at Everett station
Just an update for everyone.
Healing and recovery going well. Was even able to sit up for a brief minute, but my new skin on my behind isn't used to that yet 😁
Yes I have a bag, no it's not gonna slow me down. For anyone curious it's called an illiostomy. Anyone is welcome to ask questions, make funny jokes, or talk to me about it.
I'm not shy about it and I am not ashamed of it.
Still undetermined for my return to work date, but I'll be back as soon as I can. I miss driving my 🚕🚖
Just placed some flowers at the memorial for Officer Rocha.
RIP my good sir
Long but productive day today. 48 years old (almost) and stage 3 colorectal cancer (surgeon has labeled it this).
Exactly one month till surgery.
My plan is to prepay all the bills 2 months ahead, before that surgery date gets here.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well here is 3000 words.
This was Camano Island this morning.
This is a donation delivery block for Amazon flex. I do Amazon flex sometimes also.
Donation deliveries for Amazon are typically groceries and pre-packaged meals to the underserved and underprivileged.
This block is based out of Seattle so I will be up a little early Wednesday to help out the community. 🥰
Why do people in my taxi try and insist that I touch them to help them?
Even explaining the whole coronavirus restrictions, even explaining that I have a very young child, even explaining that I have cancer, none of these reasons stop people from asking....
No you cannot sit in my front seat, no I will not lift your legs in the car, no I am not going to do anything that puts us generally within six feet of each other.
Yes I will still help with groceries and luggage, as that does not require me to touch you or come within 6 ft of you.
People can have their own opinions about the whole coronavirus, but I still have to take protections for myself and my family.
Reason for this post: South County Fire (ambulance) refused to take a lady to the hospital, and called for a taxi. She could not lift her own legs into the taxi because they were so swollen, and they really should have taken her to the hospital. I don't know if she refused or they refused, but if she refused they should have known better than to call a taxi.

Looks like it's trying to get warmer the closer I get to home 😁
The weather thinks it's partly cloudy and doing nothing but it's been snowing that fine grain snow from Everett and north.
This is my workspace. The DDS top right gives me calls. The tablet does gps, music, mileage tracking, and vehicle monitoring. The meter is obvious, and cell goes just left of that. Bluetooth connected via FM transmitter at the bottom.
Wheeeeee!!
I always love the feedback 😁
Fun times today. I have chains and brains!
I will be driving again tomorrow for all your snowy needs.
The Seahawks are currently on! Just a reminder to anybody riding in the taxi if it's game day, you can watch the game while I drive you 😁
I have resumed driving 🙂
Surgery still sometime ahead
Effective Monday, I will not be driving yellow cab until further notice due to cancer treatment.
Currently I expect to return sometime in the middle of August but that also depends when surgery may be.
To all my customers even the ones that had a little too much or we're having a really bad day, you are all were wonderful.
To all my coworkers you have all been the greatest most awesome bunch I have ever worked with and I can't wait to be back.
