Revealing the 2024 BSA VISTA Leadership Megastars

The Berwyn Fire Company hosted a groundbreaking in celebration of their newest construction project: replacing their existing Main Station in Easttown Township after 95 years! Additionally, a second construction phase will allow for a permanent station in Tredyffrin Township. Both stations will effectively enable personnel to respond faster and safer to fire and EMS emergencies for years to come! CCEDC and CCIDA are working with the Berwyn Fire Company and both townships on a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant project for the Berwyn construction site.

Congratulations to Piasecki Aircraft Corporation on their recently announced collaboration with Columbia Helicopters to deliver upgraded heavy-lift helicopters worldwide - a move that will create more that 200 jobs in our area.

Modifications and testing will take place at Piasecki’s 219,000-square-foot heliplex facility in Coatesville. Piasecki’s acquisition of the facility was championed by Pennsylvania U.S. Senator Bob Casey, U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6), Governor Josh Shapiro, and the Chester County Economic Development Council to create new jobs that leverage the unique aerospace skills in the region. Piasecki received assistance from CCEDC to finance acquisition costs and renovations of the site using a $2,500,000 RACP grant.

Future leaders in STEM dove into an immersive experience during the first day of our STEM Innovation Exploration Camp & Science and Medical Discovery Camp. The students received captivating lessons on weather data recording from WFLX FOX 29 Meteorologist Drew Anderson, hands-on experience with medical equipment following a presentation by Mikea Hines, took part in an exciting paper airplane challenge with airline pilot John Paul Dean, and so much more! Chester County Intermediate Unit's new Child & Career Development Center Great Valley Campus breaks ground for an era of learning and student success!

This project involves the construction of an 85,000 SF specialized school facility in East Whiteland Township that will serve up to 180 students between the ages of 5-21 years. This facility will provide for individual learning styles customized learning opportunities for its students. CCEDC / Chester County Industrial Development Authority (CCIDA) worked with the CCIU and the Chester County School Authority (CCSA) to submit a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant application for this construction project in January 2024. Governor Shapiro has yet to announce the awards for this year.

CCEDC celebrated the first day of summer, National Outdoors Month, and observed Juneteenth with a walking tour of West Chester yesterday.

Led by the Chester County History Center, our team learned about the history of the Underground Railroad by exploring West Chester's multi-faceted role during this time in history. The experience deepened our understanding and connection to our community's past.
