What drives our clients to embark on their personal training journey?

When most people think of personal training, they often imagine weight loss or sculpting their bodies to fit an ideal image. While many of our clients do come to us with goals of getting in shape, the true essence of personal training goes far beyond aesthetics. A huge, tail-wagging thank you to everyone who came out to our second Pushups for Paws Event this morning!

It was a great workout with lots of laughs and plenty of prizes for all! Between the two classes, we were able to raise over 600 dollars and an overflowing donation box of food and resources for

Did you know that NOVA Strong has an app? 🥳

One of the perks of training at NOVA Strong is access to our app, which allows you to track your habits, nutrition, fitness goals, and workouts.

NOVA Strong uses the app for online clients, hybrid (part in person, part online), and in-person clients.

Workouts are easy and SO FUN with exercise programs specifically written for you, and videos to guide you. You’ll track your progress and be able to look back and see how far you’ve come!

Your trainer can see everything you log (workouts, nutrition, etc) , and communication with your trainer is quick and easy through the messaging feature.

If it’s been hard for you to get in the swing of things, your trainer can set up habit tracking to hold you accountable for things like getting your veggies in, weigh ins, and so much more!

Bottom line: getting healthy just got more fun (and accessible) 🤩

Are you struggling to balance exercise with a busy summer full of traveling and vacations?

We’ve all been there. Warmer weather rolls around and all of the sudden your schedule fills up with fun family vacations, graduation parties, weddings…you name it!

You try to keep up with the exercise routine you’ve been so diligent about doing, but it’s tough when you’re always on the go. Don’t fear though, because the trainers here at NOVA Strong have some tips to keep you on track this summer:

☀️ Find ways to get movement in on vacation:
-plan hikes, walks, runs, tennis/pickleball, swims, etc

🧘🏼‍♂️ Make exercise a family affair:
- invite your friends and family to join you for your workouts and other forms of exercise

📆 Plan for exercise:
-set specific and realistic goals for when and how often you want to exercise during the summer/on vacation

🏨 Book hotels with a gym:
-most hotels have a small gym with enough equipment for an easy workout

🥹 Get a personal trainer who will miss you while you’re on vacation
…okay, so this isn’t exactly an actual tip, but our trainers here at NOVA Strong miss our clients when they go on vacation, and we’re always happy when they come back!

Father’s Day is upon us & since we had SO much fun during our Mother’s Day special seeing our clients & their moms/kids, we’ve decided to offer the same deal for the week of Father’s Day.

We're celebrating by offering a special partner session deal for the week of Father’s Day (starting Monday June 10 through Sunday June 16th)
-fathers can bring their son/daughter to one session for free (must be 12 or older)
-clients can bring their father to one session for free

If you plan on bringing someone, please notify your coach in advance so they can plan accordingly.

Any new client who has not worked with us before must sign our waiver and fill out our intake form prior to their training session.

Let’s hear it for Kate! ☺️

Kate has been working with Coach Taylor since the beginning of this year and has made huge strides in her strength training. Just this past week Kate achieved one of her goals of deadlifting 135 lbs for multiple reps!

She has also been working on her box jumps, barbell squat, and bench press.

Kate is super strong for her age and her dedication and hard work certainly shows. Strength training accomplishments aside, Kate is funny, kind, and witty, and we’re so lucky to have her as part of the NOVA Strong family 💛

Bonnie is one of our long-time clients here at NOVA Strong, and she has accomplished so much in the time she's been working with us. At 72 years old, Bonnie can do things that many people can't even do in their younger years!

Deadlifting her bodyweight (an impressive feat), doing pushups (with perfect form I might add), and squatting without knee pain (a far cry from the knee pain she experienced when we first met her) are just some of the amazing things that she's accomplished. Most importantly, Bonnie can keep up with her grandkids, and isn't that what strength training is really about?

Introducing...drum roll please: 🥁

Walks with Juanita! ✨⭐️🤩

When: starting June 4th, and every Tuesday after at 10:15am (the time may move to earlier as it gets warmer out)
Who: Anyone interested! NOVA Strong clients, SAPT clients, friends and family, and anyone in the area who's interested in joining!
Where: Meet at SAPT. The group will water up and then head over to Draper Park to walk laps or explore the trail.
Cost: Completely free, no strings attached :)

A little about what you can expect from Walks with Juanita:
For those of you who don't know Juanita, she's our resident Women's Health Specialist. She focuses a large part of her coaching on developing support systems with her clients as she helps them get stronger and make healthy lifestyle changes. (She's also by far the funniest trainer on staff, so you can expect plenty of laughs while you get your steps in). Our goal is to offer more social support to our community while promoting more physical activity and time spent outside.

Coach Iman Highlight & some fun facts:

Iman earned his kinesiology degree from George Mason. During this time, Iman interned with SAPT for a year which gave him a leg up later on when he started working as a personal trainer in 2020. He got his start in strength training at just 15 years old, and has stuck with it ever since.

Initially, Iman was on track to become a physical therapist, but after further thought and experience decided to pursue Medical school. Iman found during his time working as a personal trainer that he really enjoys working with post-rehab clients, and he hopes to specialize in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) after Medical school.

Some fun facts about Iman:
-played soccer in high school
-practices martial arts
-big foodie
-enjoys traveling
-loves cooking and exploring new foods and restaurants (leave your recommendations in the comments below)

Congratulations to Iman's client, MJ, who concluded Freshman softball season with some big wins! MJ's softball team finished the season 23-0, WCAC champs, VISAA state champs, and First Team All State honors!

MJ grew so much this year as a person and as an athlete, and we couldn't be more proud of her!
