As the focal point of a room, the fireplace can be a beautiful statement piece or an eye sore. Here are 3 projects for turning your drab fireplace in to the star of the room! A perfect Spring makeover project!
1. Cover existing brick with reclaimed wood:
Reclaimed wood is a huge trend in design and is fairly inexpensive! Try long planks to create the illusion of a wider space.
2. Whitewash brick fireplace:
Similarly, whitewash can be found in furniture trends, as well as floors and fireplaces! Adding water to your paint will help give it that opaque whitewash look!
3. Recover with stacked stone:
Stacked stone helps maintain that traditional brick look. With a modern element of different colored stones you can kiss your red brick good bye!

While we know doormats are cute and stylish to one’s taste, it actually is an extremely important aspect for carpet care. Here are a couple tips to extend the life and the appearance of your carpet and all other flooring!
1. Use two doormats, one outside the home and one inside the home. Outside mats scrape debri off shoes, while indoor mats remove smaller particles of dirt as well as oils and other liquids. (An area rug can work well for this and also adds some flare to you entry.)
2. Choose mats that are the width of the door and deep enough that both feet land on the mat.
