The Trucks of the Trade event at the Fairfield Cordelia Library was a fun experience for families and children of all ages. FAST (City of Fairfield, Public Works Transportation Division) brought two vehicles to the event, a brand new all-electric transit bus, and a FAST Connect van. Many of the adults in attendance expressed surprise that even new transit vehicles have the “new car” smell, and the younger attendees wondered where the bus was going to take them.
The two types of buses allowed families to go beyond the public transit experience by sitting in the driver seat of the smaller vehicle and safely explore the larger vehicle. The handheld radio in the smaller van was a hit with our future public transit enjoyers. This event had a great turnout, and we hope that next year’s event gets here FAST! (pun intended).
Fairfield Local Taxi Program ends on June 30, 2024.
