I am so proud of Tailer who is like a second son to me. I started coaching him when he was 9 years old and had moved down from Brockton to Fall River. We have had so many great experiences throughout the years. He just graduated from UMass Dartmouth with an engineering degree and I couldn’t be more proud. He is a role model for the youth of Fall River.

It was an honor to have Chef Emeril Lagasse at our restaurant! He has been a great ambassador for Fall River and for Portuguese food.

In Episode 3 of Maria's Portuguese Table, Maria explores Portuguese cafés and businesses in Fall River, including Michael's Provision and one of the oldest Portuguese restaurants in the state, Sagres Restaurant. Then, she meets up with Brian Martins and Derrick DeMelo, the founders of the comedy group Portuguese Kids.

Today Sunday, April 2nd at 7:00pm on Rhode Island PBS, the award winning series Maria’s Portuguese Table premiers its second season.
Rhode Island PBS is my host station and because of them the series is able to be aired on the PBS platform… so it’s really special that they get to air the series before anyone else.
Then in June, the series will become available for all the PBS stations nationwide to add to their programming.
I am filled with so many emotions today.. from gratitude, excitement to humility in it all.
Putting together season two actually took two years of hard work and persistence. There was no doubt that it would be done, but nothing worth doing is simple.  The one constant in all this was the support that I received from all of you. I loved all beautiful messages being sent to me throughout saying “keep going Maria… don’t give up!”
From the bottom of my heart to all of you, I say Thank You for believing in me and this series. ❤️

Just a quick shoutout!!!
Bob and I had Lunch this weekend at Sagres Restaurant in Fall River MA… We had friends visiting us, and we just had to take them to one of the oldest Portuguese restaurant in Massachusetts.
Bob had the grilled fish, our friends had octopus as well as codfish… and I had a classic seafood dish called Arroz de Tamboril com Camarão aka Monkfish Rice with Shrimp.
Once again…. Everything was incredible, and a testament to why they have been around for as long as they have. ❤️
I didn’t have a chance to take a picture while at the restaurant, but here’s a picture of my lunch today… Yes, it’s leftovers… but this dish is just as amazing today!!! Thank you so much Sagres Restaurant!!!
