⭕Injuries and Trauma: Bumps, falls, or sports injuries can cause damage to the ligaments, tendons, or cartilage of the knee, leading to acute pain.
🔴Wear and Degeneration: Osteoarthritis is a common cause of knee pain, especially as we age. Cartilage wear in the joint can cause discomfort and stiffness.
⭕Patellar Issues: Patellar chondromalacia, which is the softening of the cartilage beneath the kneecap, as well as patellofemoral pain syndrome, can cause pain in the front of the knee.
🔴Overload or Overweight: Excess weight can increase pressure on the knees, leading to pain. Activities that impose excessive load can also contribute, especially without proper warm-up.
⭕Inflammatory Conditions: Rheumatoid arthritis or other inflammatory conditions can affect joints, including the knees, causing pain, swelling, and stiffness.

Physical therapy also plays an important role in the prevention and treatment of aging-related injuries. As we age, we are more susceptible to falls and osteoarticular injuries, such as bone fractures and back problems. Physical therapy can help prevent these injuries by improving balance, coordination, and muscle strength. It can also treat and rehabilitate existing injuries, speeding up the recovery process and reducing the risk of complications.

We know that our body needs movement to stay healthy. With physiotherapy we are going to work on all those movements that the body for one reason or another has stopped doing or has limited.
We can see the body as one that needs a diet of movements, the variety and dose are in many cases, the ideal recipe to stay healthy. Our goal will then be to help the body regain its balance, sometimes by restricting some movements or supplementing others.
Before we can move properly, we need pain-free and restriction-free joints on which to move and then build a good movement pattern.
