Voices from the Field: Understanding Community Needs — VHC Medical Brigade At VHC Medical Brigade, we understand that delivering aid to hard-to-reach areas requires more than just goodwill; it requires a deep understanding of the actual needs and the impact of our efforts.

Our partnership with Rise Against Hunger is a crucial part of our school lunch program, which now serves over a thousand children aged 4 to 13. Every school day, students enjoy a hot, nutritious meal and a refreshing drink, fueling their health and focus for lasting academic success. 🌟

In February, we shipped 15 containers packed with millions of meals – and hope for a bright future – to our global partners to distribute in their local communities in support of people facing food insecurity. We’re grateful to our Hunger Champions for making this impact possible!

Expanding Emergency Medical Care: Training for Success — VHC Medical Brigade We're making strides in building local medical capacity in Honduras, particularly in the Comayagua region. With the collaboration of first responders, local hospital staff, and doctors from the National University, we've pinpointed critical areas of need in specialized training and equipment.

Grateful to Advanced Center For Eyecare Global and these dedicated professionals for their commitment to providing essential eye care in Honduras. Join us in congratulating these remarkable leaders! Their journey is just beginning, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will make. 💙

With the recent completion of the Global Entrepreneurship Leadership Program, ACE Global's class of 2024 Honduran fellows are ready to graduate, and we couldn't be prouder of Drs. Ruiz, Wong, and De Icaza. Over the past year, these remarkable individuals have demonstrated extraordinary dedication, resilience, and skill in their pursuit of excellence in surgical eye care.

Dr. Nicolle Ruiz, our pioneering oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellow, not only excelled academically but also hosted 17 physician teams while raising her young daughter. Her hard work and passion for giving back ensure that she will be a key figure in training future oculoplastic fellows in Honduras.

Dr. Raquel Wong, once shy and reserved, has blossomed into a confident, compassionate, and skilled cataract surgeon. Her plans to open a private practice and serve as the primary ophthalmologist for pediatric patients at Hospital Escuela highlight her commitment to improving access to eye care in her community.

Dr. Emmanuel "Emma" De Icaza has grown immensely, facing challenges head-on and emerging as a confident and capable surgeon and leader. His participation in international conferences and his role in launching a new eye center at Hospital San Benito Jose showcase his vision and dedication to making a significant impact in Honduras and Mexico.

These achievements are a testament to our fellows' hard work and the support of the ACE Global family. As they step into their new roles, we celebrate their success and look forward to their continued contributions to eye care in Central America.

A special graduation ceremony with family and friends celebrating their incredible journey will take place in Comayagua later this month, so stay tuned for a video of this memorable night!
