Great Northern Bicycle Co./GNBC
We love bicycles and no matter what you ride-we'll help keep you rollin'! Island Park Cycles was originally started in 1987 by Tom Smith.
Today Island Park Cycles is more commonly known at Great Northern Bicycle Company (because of where the shop is now located...The Great Northern Depot, which was once the city's train station as well as an eatery/brewery). The shop is still owned and run by Tom (though with his wife Kari and Aaron Romaine). In 2017 we celebrated our 30th year as Fargo-Moorhead's one stop bicycling shop!
Now that the summer solstice has passed, winter is coming! Use the rest of the warm weather wisely and hop on a bike!

We are proud to carry Catrike products in our store. Their trikes are well designed, built with high quality materials and components, and made here in the United States. These trikes are easily the most comfortable cycling apparatus we sell in our store, and they are really fun to ride, too. We have Villager and 559 models in stock that are built and ready to test ride, so stop in soon to see what Catrikes are all about! (And if you stop in at 3pm, that's when the espresso is made each day 😉)
The Great Northern Bicycle Co./GNBC has been part of the Fargo-Moorhead, North Dakota, cycling community for over 30 years. A Catrike dealer for over a decade, they have built a reputation for their friendly staff, excellent service, community stewardship and afternoon espressos. They have a good selection of Catrikes in stock and eKITs for converting your regular Catrike to an eCAT! Visit them online at gncycles.com.

The owner of the 36 inch wheel 5XL bike that we posted about last week picked up his bike today and was kind enough to pose for a quick photo. Thank you Krissen Jentian for trusting us with assembling your bike. We hope you have a blast riding it!
We recently assembled this 36 inch wheel 5XL bike for a customer who is rather tall. The photo features Amanda, our smallest employee, for scale. It’s awesome that there is a company out there who builds bikes like this for people who outgrow sizes that most manufacturers produce. While we don’t carry Dirty Sixer bikes, we appreciate what they do and we were more than happy to get this bike assembled for this customer! And we can now say it rides rather nicely, too.
Snow is melting, river is rising ... and so are the bridges. Hopefully they'll get to come back down in the not so distant future!
Well folks, as you can imagine the river is rising and so are the bridges. Both the Lindenwood/Gooseberry and Oak Grove Bridges have recently been lifted. We'll let you know when the bridges are back down!
We are remaining closed all day today due to the snowy weather.
Day 2 of 30 days of biking. St. Benedict church is still there!
30 Days of Biking is a pledge to ride your bike every day in the month of April. You choose the distance, route, and bike you want to ride - whatever gets your wheels turning each day. The return? You get to experience the joy of riding your bike for 30 straight days! You could even use this as an excuse to try commuting to work by bike for the first time, or go for a ride with that friend you've been meaning to catch up with. Maybe you'll even try getting your groceries on your bike one day for fun...the possibilities are endless!
Are you planning to participate in this year? Head to their website (linked below) and make the pledge. Then, share your experiences with us and we'll repost and cheer you on all month long!
https://30daysofbiking.com/
Beyond biking, you can use April to strengthen bike community. For example:
🚲 Teach someone to fix a flat tire—or learn yourself!
🚲 Connect with a local bike advocacy organization.
🚲 Patronize a local bike shop.
The ways to celebrate are infinite!
