The Tell - Fargo

Community through unscripted storytelling: no notes, no props, no kiddin'. Welcome to The Tell. Seven names are drawn for the night to be Tellers. Maybe food.

Once a month, join us for a night unlike any other with organic, homegrown, locally (and sometimes imported!) storytelling and live music.

$15 at the door, everyone welcome. Your host will greet and guide you through an event unlike any other in the area...part campfire singalong minus the campfire, part truth or dare, and a little bit of raw, unbridled terror.... Those wishing to Tell of a true

In addition to our tellers, audience members, and Cody, Hubie and Tracy are essential to our show. They keep the lights and the sound working, and make sure everything runs smoothly. Thank you!

Steve Burket was our musician for the evening, and he was fabulous! At least a few people were at least a little bit in love with him by the end of the night. We can't wait to have him back!

Last month's second place winner was this month's winner! Melissa will be competing in The TellOff on December 12.

After calling in sick as a young reporter so she could celebrate her son's 5th birthday, Laurie stumbled across what could have been the story of her life. In A Lie I Regret, Laurie reflects on whether she made the right decisions so many years ago.

The Truth is Arson Requires Better Friends: With his story, Dylan reminds us that if a person is going to accidentally, or maybe not quite accidentally, start a big fire on a railroad track with a group of friends, they should make sure that none of them is the type that is going to throw you all under the bus later.

10/12/2024

With I Can't Go Back, Clare explains why after two trips to Jiffy L**e, she can never go back, not because of anything they did, but because of her own embarrassment. She was our third place winner with this story!

After growing up in North Dakota, Nancy moved away and became a camping, hiking, fishing, Minnesota Girl. She thought that would prepare her to camp with her Montana Boy, but she was wrong, as she explained in her story, Truth About a MN Girl.

10/12/2024

The "Truth" About Jam: Denise was 12 years old when her father gave her a case of plums and told her to make jam, something she had no idea how to do. She told us all about how 10 pounds of sugar and several hours later she had one jar of jam and a big mess.

10/12/2024

With her story The Car, Sylvia told us how she and a friend came across a running car and decided to teach the car owner how dangerous that was by moving the car and sending the owner on a scavenger hunt in 1966 Burlington, Iowa. She was our second place winner for the night!

10/12/2024

Melissa impressed the crowd with her cleverness in figuring out how to get to a concert as a diabolical 16 year old. She won the night with her story, Church, Lies, and Rock 'n' Roll. She also got bonus points from our self described Semi-Permanent Guest Host Cody for spelling her last name phonetically.

Of all of the things she expected to find on the ship, the Italian "speaking" stray dog that the Captain pick up on shore and decided to adopt, was not one of them. Jamie entertained us with her story, Dog on Board a United States Navy Ship.
