I’ve been praying, waiting and trusting for a while now. There were times that the spaces weren’t right, or the timing wasn’t right. I’m excited to officially announce that I’ll be opening a studio rental salon in West Fargo on Veterans Boulevard in January!! 🎉 I can’t wait for you all to see it ❤️

Minnesota just passed a texture education law! 💕🥳

The amendment says anyone applying for a license to practice as a cosmetologist, hair technician, manager or instructor must complete training on all hair types and textures, "including coil, curl, or wave patterns, hair strand thicknesses, and volumes of hair."

Montgomery Johnson told KARE 11. "It makes me [feel] very nice and happy. Knowing that wherever you go, into whatever salon that you go into, that you'll find at least a stylist that feels comfortable and confident in their skills to help any client who sits down in their chair.”

Why am I a passionate Curly Hair Specialist?

When I was in middle school, I didn’t know it yet, but my hair started to come in wavy. I would brush my hair like everyone else around me, and I’d wonder why my hair was so puffy. I felt like my hair wasn’t as “nice” as the other girls’ in a time that STRAIGHT hair was IN. I spent a lot of years straightening my hair to fight the puff, because that’s all I knew to do.

Fast forward to 2017 when I took my DevaCurl training! ✨ This was the first time I was actually taught about any texture other than straight hair (yes, including hair school…😳) I decided to try what I learned on my own hair, and continued on my journey to loving my natural texture! 〰️

As I met more curly-haired clients, I noticed that most of them had a similar story. The more I heard about their previous bad haircut experiences and the anxiety surrounding having their cut, the more my heart broke. Everyone deserves to confidently walk into a salon and trust that the professional behind the chair knows how to care for their hair.

I’m on a mission to show you all how beautiful your unique hair texture is and care for your hair in a way no other stylist has ❤️ I am HONORED to be the one you trust with your hair.

When I started my business 4 years ago, I decided that I was going to find a salon to rent at that I could establish myself with long-term. I thought that if my time at Nora Salon came to an end, it would be to expand my business. Though that is still in the plans, I am taking an unexpected detour and moving my business into Bella Mae Salon Suites soon!
