Cross Country Soaring, Inc.
From April Fool's Day to Halloween we spend five days a week teaching soaring and giving rides over You can schedule a day and time to come down for a flight.
Show up about 15 minutes early if you can. We will show you around and then take you up for a flight you will never forget. We do this a LOT, so we're pretty good at it. Come down and check it out. Soaring is magic.
Sometimes the hole-punch clouds leave the overcast. Sometimes the overcast leaves the hole-punch clouds. Very confusing...but cool.
And...they did it! Congratulations to team USA (Sarah and Karl) on winning the WGC World Championship glider competition in the multi-seat 20M category. Karl is 87 years old. Brains&Experience takes the gold in this sport.
Three days left in the 38th World Championship Soaring Competition...Sarah & Karl (team USA) in First Place. Woohoo!! (Yeah, I know. I just jinxed it)
Happy 4th of July!!
An important date in history.
March 23, 1933 is another.
Find out why.
A.I. images are being passed off as real every single day on my FB feed. Yours', too, I'm sure. I know that because a while back I installed a Chrome extension called "Hive Detector". Whenever I suspect that an image (or text) is A.I. generated, I can right-click over it and select the detector from the drop-down menu. Highly recommend, especially with election season underway. It produces and result like this:
Last contest photo! I swear. It's over. There were three classes flying and we won our class. Woohoo! Co-pilot Barry and his amazing rocket ship of a glider did most the work. Anywho - that's Harmony Park on the point with the cars and tents and stages. That's where the Shangri-La music festival is held.
His name should be Oscar
My alma mater made number ONE most beautiful school in the world! I would like to cite that very distraction to explain my academic performance there....

Minnesota at the end of December 2023! Uh oh.
Give a glider flight for Christmas and your shopping is done! Money-back guarantee if the recipient isn't thrilled. There are three levels - $195, $245, $295. The higher and longer, the more dollars. Or you can buy the entry level flight ($195 is to 3000FT and lasts 20 minutes) and the recipient can upgrade to a higher flight if they want on ride day. They can take the stick and carve some turns if the want! It's a big sky, after all. I can walk them through the basics, but I get the landing.
I can email you a pdf of the certificate or mail a hardcopy (allow 3 days). Fully refundable for any reason and THIS gift won't gather dust. Videos of the flight also available. See my 20 year old website crosscountrysoaring.com for more information or call me (Don) at 612-7threezero-3905.
Merry Christmas
Winch launching a sailplane is THE best. Here's the view from the front-looking-back during a launch. We will be offering more of these flights in May 2024.

Christmas Gift Certificates! Just saying. He's already got ties and slippers, and she wants lasting memories of your love, not more things to dust. (how am I doing? :-) Call me)
Dang. The little rum barrel fell off again.
End of the day in the Fall.
Here's a pair of rare clouds that formed over the airport a few days ago - Fallstreak (or hole-punch) clouds. Wikipedia has a good layman's description of how it happens. They lasted about an hour.
I don't see what the problem is🤣🤣🤣
Disguised leapard😄😄

Happy Holidays!
We are double-boosted and UP and running - until October 31st! Hop on my calendar and schedule a ride (Calendar&Links" page). If you listen closely, the puffy white cumulus clouds are calling you. Buy a certificate on my website as a gift or simply pay on ride day.
You can fly a bunch if you want (I can explain).
Or I can fly.
Or we can take turns.
Come spend a few hours at our little airport.
