I made this little sample piece for my client to show him what steel balls would look like as spacers integrated into the table base design! I also made a little jig to grind some flat spots for mounting the balls between the slats!
There’s a lot going on here, and it has to be all thought through before assembly!

Yesterday I had a group of 28 individuals visit the shop!
This group, all members of the MN NEWMAR Kountry Klub, visits different places of interest and shops during their annual rally, to see how things are made.
We spent an hour plus together, cut a club sign on my CNC plasma table, which excited all of them, and had a great time!
I love doing stuff like that!

I had a chance to visit the shop of Mario , and spend a few hours there. They specialize in parts and components for theater productions.
I was excited to see a machine ready to go, and had a chance to try my hand on aluminum pulse for the first time! Now I’d like to get more aluminum work to justify the purchase of one of these machines!
Will it ever end?!?!?

Now that I have a working 11x17 printer, I needed some clipboards to match the size.
I bought some regular clipboards from Office Max, removed the clamps, and mounted them to two pieces of hot rolled mild steel which I cut on my plasma table.
They should last for a long, long time!

6L Designs "Metal in Motion" is an artistic metal welding studio specializing in unique, custom hand built furniture, store fixtures, and decorative metal art.

Started as a new venture in 2014 by Wolfgang Sixl, after a very successful career of nearly 4 decades as a highly skilled woodworker/artisan, the opportunity to work with metal has ignited a new found passion and a creative outlet in 6L Designs.

Within a short period of time, Wolfgang’s little shop has grown in size as has the scope of his projects. Friends and past clients continue to use Wolfgang as a resource to realize their ideas and have been a wonderful support for his transition into this new field.
