Alabama Cottage Food Law Course
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Food Safety and Quality team will offer two in-person Alabama Cottage Food Law trainings in Fayette County. This training is for those who want to produce and sell certain nonhazardous food items from their home. The cost to attend a training is $25, and the certification is good for three years.
There will be a morning class at 10:00AM and an afternoon class beginning at 5:30PM on April 29, 2024. The classes will be held at the Extension office. Please register using the link below.

Beef 101 is an educational program hosted at Auburn University and sponsored by the Alabama Beef Checkoff Program! These sessions were created to assist teachers by providing cattle industry insight to Alabama students through conversations and demonstrations displaying processes crucial to producing a safe and wholesome beef product. 🤠🤓

The much anticipated 2024 Arbor Day Tree Giveaway is scheduled for Thursday, February 29, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Fayette County Extension Office. Potential varieties available may include Crab Apple, Redbud, White Dogwood, Red Maple, Persimmon, Baldcypress, Tulip-Poplar and Scarlet Oak. A limited supply will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No holds.

This giveaway is sponsored by the Alabama Forestry Commission and hosted by the Fayette County Forestry Planning Committee and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.

Hey college students! Looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience and make professional connections in the world of agriculture? Sweet Grown Alabama is accepting applications for a paid summer intern. This internship is an exceptional opportunity for anyone pursuing a degree in agricultural communications or related field looking for hands-on exposure to writing, photography, graphic design, social media, event planning and more. Interns must be willing to have a flexible schedule and work from our office in Montgomery.

Fayette County 4-H has a pollinator garden started 😊 HUGE THANKS to one of our Youth Leadership Council members Mr. Tucker Bowen for volunteering his time to help get the plants in the ground. If you need any help with landscaping around your house I highly recommend Tucker (T and M Lawn Care). He’s a hardworking young man who will go far in life with his work ethic. I’m very thankful he was willing to volunteer to help us out today!!
