Brand Refresh! Same promise, fresh look
The idea of starting strength training can feel intimidating. Maybe you think you’re not strong enough, don’t have the time, or just don’t know where to begin.
Here’s the good news: That milk jug in your hand is a gateway to a stronger, healthier you. Here’s why:
* Strength training builds muscle. Muscle burns more calories at rest, which can help you manage your weight and boost your metabolism.
* It strengthens your bones. As we age, our bones naturally become weaker. Strength training can help prevent osteoporosis and keep you active for years to come.
Here are some milk jug exercises to get your blood pumping:
* Bicep Curls: Fill your milk jug with water (the fuller, the harder!) and hold it in each hand. Curl your arms up towards your shoulders, squeezing your biceps at the top. Repeat for 10-15 reps.
* Overhead Press: Hold the milk jug above your head with both hands. Slowly lower it down behind your head, then press it back up. Focus on engaging your shoulders. 10-15 reps!
* Squats: Hold the milk jug at chest level. Lower yourself into a squat position as if you’re sitting in a chair. Keep your back straight and core engaged. Stand back up tall. 10-15 reps!
*
Remember, consistency is key! Aim for 2-3 strength training sessions per week, even if it’s just for 20-30 minutes. As you get stronger, you can increase the weight (fill the jug more) or find new exercises online.
The best part? You can do this anywhere, anytime. Your living room, your backyard, even your office break room becomes your personal gym!
P.S. Share your strength training journey with us! Tag us in your workout pics and videos and inspire others to ditch the doubt and get strong!

Sadly, female runner safety remains an issue. We are saddened by the death of Laken Riley Hope, a young nursing student who went for a run and didn’t make it back.
The loss of Laken Riley Hope serves as a powerful reminder that we cannot afford to remain silent or passive. By acknowledging the gravity of the issue, actively seeking solutions, and taking individual responsibility, we can collectively work towards creating a world where women feel safe and empowered to run freely.
However, it is crucial to recognize that individual actions alone are not enough. Society as a whole needs to undergo a significant shift in its attitudes and behaviors. This includes:
* Combating harmful stereotypes and biases that contribute to the vulnerability of female runners.
* Promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity that empowers women to feel safe and valued in public spaces.
This isn’t just a women’s issue, it’s a societal one. It affects families, communities, and the future we build together.
Let’s challenge harmful norms, stand up for each other, and work towards a world where everyone feels safe.
"There were times when I wanted to stop, but I didn't. I kept going because I had a goal, and I wasn't going to let anything stop me from achieving it." - Diana Nyad, American long-distance swimmer, pioneering solo swims across bodies of water and inspiring endurance through her dedication and perseverance.
There may be times you want to stop, but you have to keep pushing through! If she can swim the ocean at age 64, you can go for your morning run!
"My biggest obstacle came from within. It was my lack of confidence. I wasn't sure if I could win. But once I decided that I was going to go for it, and that I didn't care what anybody else thought, that's when things started to change." - Martina Navratilova, Czech-American tennis champion, enduring personal and professional challenges to become one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
Sometimes we have to get out of our OWN heads. Turn OFF the voices saying 'you can't, you're too old, you'll fail..."
