Thank you to Bunker and The Fayetteville Woodpeckers for allowing their fans to purchase stuffed animals for our pediatric transports! Did you know that our friends at Cape Fear Valley Mobile Integrated Healthcare transport over 3,000 kids per year? They love to have a small stuffed animal to be able to hand out to our little ones to bring up their spirits during a scary time.

Our team took a visit to the Dorothea Dix Adolescent Care Unit to share with them the good news! We have been awarded the Youth Growth Stock Trust grant through the United Way of Cumberland County! This grant will be helpful to provide safe, yet comfortable clothing and shoes upon the time of the patients arrival. Their admission to this faciltiy comes at a time of anxiety and crisis and this will allow them to turn their focus to care and healing thanks to these wonderful resources.

Valley Pavilion Expansion Underway! πŸ‘·πŸ¦ΊπŸšπŸ©Ί

During a recent board meeting, the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation Board of Directors had a behind-the-scenes tour of the Valley Pavilion Expansion at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. This project will add 100 beds by building two new floors on top of the existing Valley Pavilion. Approximately 40 of the beds will be designed as ICU beds, with the remaining beds designated for medical/surgery inpatient and observation. Additionally, two helicopter pads will be added to the top of the building, bringing in more than 6,000 patients annually.

According to Cape Fear Valley Health CEO Michael Nagowski, "We recognized that we need this expansion to meet the growing needs of our community, and to provide meaningful assistance to reducing wait time in our Emergency Department."

Thank you so much to The Little Playroom Foundation for their generous donation of stuffed animals for our Cape Fear Valley Health pediatric patients! These items will bring comfort in a time that could be scary for our littlest patients.

Today is the day we deliver to the hospital! Thanks to all of you, we are bringing almost 200 teddy bears to Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation to bring joy to pediatric patients, in honor of Teddy Whittington. We are always so grateful for your support during our gift drives. Without your help we would not be able to continue to support the pediatric playroom! Thank you, so much β™₯️

Mini Philanthropists in Action! πŸ’—

Kendall and Lilly came by the Foundation office this week for a donation delivery in support of our pediatric patients and programs at Cape Fear Valley Health! Kendall was first inspired by a classmate who had been hospitalized and explained the benefit of having something to play to keep their mind off their illness. Over the past few months, Kendall has collected money from family, friends and local businesses such as Superior Bakery in Hope Mills. Her doll, Lilly, even had a gift in her mini purse to donate! Thank you, Kendall, for being a Mini Philanthropist, for your generous heart and for your ability to educate our community on these important needs of the hospital!
