Former NASA astronaut Frank Borman has passed away at the age of 95. The museum is deeply saddened by the passing of yet another American hero. Borman played a pivotal role in some of NASA’s most significant and daring missions.
Borman was best known as the commander for Apollo 8, the first crewed mission around the Moon. His legacy as the commander of Gemini VII and Apollo 8 is one of the finest and most remarkable.

A Bit of Arkansas in the Air
Follow the colorful history of aviation in Arkansas and American military conflicts through numerous displays of original artifacts and aviation memorabilia! The historic aircraft in the Arkansas Air & Military Museum are unusual among museum exhibits, because many of them still fly. Static displays at the museum range from the golden age of aviation to the jet age, including Vietnam-era Army helicopters, Navy jets, and even an Arkansas Air Guard C-130 Hercules. Learn about Arkansans’ contributions to aviation and military history!
Our main building, the vast, all-wood white hangar, is also part of Arkansas and American history, being former headquarters for one of the United States' many aviator training posts during World War II. On the register of historic places, it is a unique event venue available to the public for rental for a memorable wedding, meeting, or party!
