Everything You Need to Know About Your VA Claim

1. What is a cranial prosthesis?
A medical term for wig.

2. I am a retired veteran, and I never heard of this program before, can you tell me more about it?
Absolutely! The program is specifically for veterans, both men and women, experiencing hair loss at zero cost to the veteran.

3. How can I get started?
Make a Consultation Request to your Primary Care Physician at the VA Hospital for an evaluation of your hair loss. During this appointment, you will discuss your need for a custom cranial prosthetic due to your hair loss condition and that you would like to request Elite Hair Replacement as your vendor.

The VA will send your information to us and you will wait for our representative to reach out to you for a complimentary in-clinic consultation and fitting. If you have a referral or prior authorization, please let us know. If this is your first time submitting a claim, our billing department will verify your eligibility. Call us at (984) 282-2470 to schedule your appointment.

During your consultation, our Certified Hair Replacement Specialist will assist you in choosing the best option for you, including cap style, hair texture, hair color, density, etc. We will then submit this information to the local VA Prosthetic Department to secure your claim. Once approved, our manufacturers will begin constructing your prosthetic specifically designed for you.

Upon completion, we will contact you for pick up/delivery/installation. It is just that easy and at no cost to you!

4. How often can I receive a free prosthesis (wig)?
Depending on the VA, you can receive one every 6 months or once a year.

5. Do I pay for the Consultation?
Not at all! This service is zero cost to you!

6. Does the VA cover for spouses?
Unfortunately, the VA only covers the retired veteran suffering hair loss and not the spouses.

7. Are you able to service women outside of NC?
Most definitely! Please send us your local VA that you are in network with, and we can send in our Vendor's application to join, and that’s it!

8. Does the VA cover maintenance for the wig?
According to the VA, the Veterans Administration only covers the cost of the prosthetic and not for maintenance, supplies, or color.

9. Do I need to come to you for a consultation if I’m out of town?
Not at all! We can schedule a virtual consultation and discuss all your order details and concerns via video chat. All calls will be in a private setting to ensure the veteran has complete privacy.

10. What do I need to have for a virtual consultation?
The only thing we require is for you to not have any existing extensions, such as sew-ins or braids, so we can get accurate measurements of all required measurements. We also ask for you to have a soft measuring tape from your local store so we can show you how to take measurements.
