CCS to Host Virtual Launch Party to Re-engage, Re-connect with Students
The back-to-school launch party will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 15

Fayetteville, N.C. – According to the National Dropout Prevention Center, students often drop out of school because of attendance irregularities, poor academic performance and for the simple reason that they don’t like school. For many students, the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified these issues, prompting Cumberland County Schools (CCS) to encourage students to try again.

The district is hosting a Back-to-School Launch Party to show students that with the right support in place, they can get back on track and graduate from high school. The virtual event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 15. Students can receive incentives for attending.

“During this event, we hope to help students re-engage and get back on track with their education,” said Sheral Raines, CCS’ 504 coordinator/dropout prevention supervisor. “We want to be able to cheer them across the graduation stage and into the lives that they’ve always dreamed they could have.”

Interested students and families can learn more about the event by calling the hotline at 910-475-1145 or by visiting the CCS webpage. Registration is required. The hotline will be open from June 14 through July 24, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
