Quaker Peace Project near Fort Bragg
Quaker House offers free counseling for issues related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and moral injury to former and current members of the military community and their families as well as counselors for the GI Rights Network, which provides information and assistance to active-duty service members worldwide. It is a manifestation of and resource on the Quaker focus of working for peace and on healing the wounds of war and war readiness.
Last week during Friends General Conference at Haverford College, Friends from many Quaker organizations gathered together to get to know each other better. Friends talked about the intersections of their work and how they might be able to collaborate in the future. Organizations represented in this picture include:

U.S. military members discuss seeking conscientious objector status over support of Israel in Gaza Two Air Force enlistees are requesting to become conscientious objectors over U.S. support of Israel, a decision they said was emboldened by the ongoing war in Gaza.
May 15 is International Conscientious Objector Day. Quaker House is active in teaching young adults about understanding conscientious objection as well as the organizations and meetings that support them. We have published a Resource Guide for working with young adults on discerning whether they are led in this direction and, if so, how to create a file of documentation. Today Wayne Finegar II and Michelle Downey visited with Virginia Beach Friends Meeting to celebrate with them. Michelle was representing North Carolina Yearly Meeting-Conservative.
It was a joy to worship, visit, and potluck with them.
Quaker House joins with people everywhere to celebrate the International Day of Peace.
Spent last Saturday with Palmetto Friends Gathering. Always a joy to be with them, but it was also the end of 2023 annual gathering visits for Quaker House. Spent time with Piedmont Friends Yearly Meeting and Fellowship, Friends General Conference, North Carolina Yearly Meeting - Conservative, Baltimore Yearly Meeting, and Friends Churches of North Carolina.
Visited with Richmond Friends Meeting, Sandy Spring Friends Meeting, Friends-Multnomah Meeting, South Mountain Friends Meeting, and visited with new and old f/Friends.
Plus got to see redwoods!
