When I first started Get a Bigger Boat I intended for it to be a catalog of yoga goods. I oversaw a photoshoot with Steve Zak Photography. The owners of the Bed and Breakfast The Stony Brookside Bed & Bike Inn which is being mentioned in the news in the reports of the flooding at Stony Brook, NY allowed us to shoot on their property. In exchange Steve Zak took some shots of their beautiful property and the harbor.

I put together a collage of a few photos to show what this area looked like pre-collapse and the structures that fell. I am absolutely heartbroken about this news. Can anyone in Stony Brook tell me if the mill is standing still??

Last year I created an online course. This year, I am creating a repeatable system to sell it. I'd like to deliver this training to 3-4 cohorts a year and have a repeatable way to fill the class. That would give me a solid income, and then I could focus the rest of my time on creating new courses and teaching yoga workshops.

As I focus now on selling and marketing my online course, I've discovered that I don't really know how to spend my days. I'm way more comfortable building a course than selling one.

My ultimate goal is to have a wash, rinse, repeat lead generation and sales system, but I'm still learning how to wash and rinse. It's not comfortable.

However, when I have a win like today, it feels fun and creative. Yeah! I got one little thing right today and that is a nice feeling, something I can improve upon. So, I thought I'd share.

The main way I promote my course is through a webinar: Create Your Online Course in 2024! I promote that by listing it on EventBrite. Then I use EventBrite's marketing tools to reach new people.

Their ads work well, but can get a little expensive, and I'm still figuring out other aspects of selling through a webinar, so right now it feels like a lot of money for not enough results.

The webinar, though, is a great way to generate quality leads. The people who attend are often looking for a course to join and are eager to learn about what I am selling. I get to present myself as a teacher, and I believe teachers demonstrating how they teach is the best way to promote themselves.

One of the features of EventBrite that I like is their email marketing tool. It's only $30/month to upgrade to a "Pro" account, and for that, I can send 2000 emails a day. These cold emails come from EventBrite, not me. People often have used EventBrite, so these emails are less spammy than if I were to email them myself. They are also more likely to end up in their Inbox than their Spam folder.

A few weeks ago, I saved a video where a woman shows how to find emails for leads using Google Search + AI tools. I finally watched that and played around with her technique. It took me several hours to figure out how to do what she was showing, even though they are simple prompts.

I really liked what she showed. It's a cost-effective way to get lots of emails. It's also somewhat low tech, even though it's using AI, and I like the tactile nature of it.

After I found the emails, I imported them into EventBrite. I was then able to shoot out my invitation to my webinar through EventBrite's mail feature.

Today I sent my invitations out just a few hours before the webinar, but I have 2 weeks before my next webinar, and now I have a system that feels like a good way to use my time.

The next 2 weeks, I'll be sending out a bunch of emails this way, and I hope I can fill my webinars.
