Tomz Flippin' Guitar Shop
A small one man flipping guitar shop. I build, repair, and flip guitars to sell. https://reverb.com/
Just glued up more flooring for the fretboard!!! It’s happening!!
Take 2. Horrific tragedy last time. So here we go again.
Top part shaped with a router now it’s the details. Oh yeah! It needs a neck. I’m working on a fingerboard also from the old floor.
Trying a new oil finish from on this project. Pretty happy so far! Stay tuned for updates!
Had a friend ask me today about this project. Main body is wood from a barn that was built in 1865. The top of the guitar is from an old schools gymnasium floor that is being repurposed for this Semi Hollow guitar project. I’m considering using the same floor wood for the fingerboard. Stay tune for updates.
Just got done hogging out a LOT of wood. I’m really excited to get this project going. Very special stuff for a very special place.
Frets are in and the neck/ body are ready for finish. I’m trying a new finish this build for a quicker more cost efficient method. Stay tuned!
After several trips through the planer. Closer to actual thickness we’re after.
Gym floor has had the tongue and groove removed and re-laminated for the top of this new build.
Wood from a barn that was built in 1865. This will be hollowed out and shaped for a Thinline style build using some repurposed gym floor from a very special place.
Repurposed gym fLoor from someplace out of the Blue. Stay tuned for updates
It’s been a minute. Is it ready for frets?
Happy Straturday!!!!
Interesting story:
former guitarist for Warrant and Quiet Riot played the National Anthem for the Cleveland Triathlon Racing]] in 2021. TriCle is having him and his band Sunset Strip back for another performance. In appreciation for Billy’s contribution to Cleveland Triathlon Racing]] last year, my friend commissioned me to make this Maple pick guard with the Cleveland Triathlon Racing]] emblem on it. I’m hoping to get more photos up from the reveal later. Here’s a teaser!
Now some sanding. Fretboard is currently 12” radius. Thinking of going 9.5 instead. Buyer’s preference?
Ivory binding is on and drying. Stay tuned for the reveal and lots of sanding.
Fitting some binding on this Maple/ Walnut Tele style body. Stay tuned for updates. Might do a double binding on this one.
Had some time to work on some dot markers. I mill them here in the shop using the same lumber from off cuts of the guitar and necks.
I’m in the process of finishing up a router sled, that (with a neck shaping bit) will allow me to replicate my neck shaping process more efficiently.
Another shot of some freshly drilled tuner holes. Eventually I’ll drill from the other side for the 1/4” tuner shaft.
Drilling some holes tonight. Slowly getting back into it.
All set up for an Art Show. Please come out and check it out. Weatherman says it’s gorgeous outside so there’s nothing to “wine” about! Speaking of, you can try some of that too!!!
Set up at the Artist Market today Please come down for a great event and check out these handmade guitars from reclaimed wood.
It’s showtime!
I’ve had to make some changes to our online shop. We’re seeking out a new (more secure) way of doing sales online. Online sales are temporarily down until that change happens. HOWEVER, all of our inventory is still available. In fact, this Saturday at the Tiffin Arts Market potential buyers will be flocking to see these beauties. Cash sales only for now. Thanks for everyone’s support and patience as we transition to a new online shop.
The problem with staying busy is that these things stare at you and beg for your attention and you feel guilty when other things take priority. Please let me know if anything in the current or future inventory you see should require priority.
I’ve been working on the neck for this project. Swipe left to check out the back side.
Thanks!!!
Appreciate the shout out.
If you or someone you know has been a customer, please feel free to leave a review on my shop page.
Thanks
Tom
