The little hop gets me every time.
10 healthy Kune Kune piglets born this morning! We are taking deposits already. We have 8 males and 2 females. They will be ready for new homes in 6 weeks.
Poppy is getting ready to have kits! Did you know that rabbits build a nest to have their babies in? Their nests consist of grass or leaves and plenty of fur! Right now Poppy is gathering straw and building the base of her nest in a box we made for her. If she were a wild rabbit she would dig a very small hole in the dirt. Once she is satisfied with the straw portion she will begin to pull fur from around her neck and belly. Not to worry it doesn’t harm her at all. She has plenty of fur to spare. She will place all the fur neatly in a ball on top of the straw. The fur will provide a cozy little spot for the kits to stay warm. Kits are actually born hairless! The fur will keep the kits plenty warm even if temperatures drop down into the teens. Soon after she finishes her nest her kits will make their appearance. We are so excited for Poppy’s litter. Keep watching our page for updates on Poppy and her litter!
Our turkeys were excited this morning. I think they are so pretty strutting around for the hens. 🦃 Our toms are Bourbon Red, Royal Palm, and Narragansett.
