On Friday Nov 17th some of the ladies at the YMCA came to the Mason County Senior center and entertained us with line dancing! It was great to have them here. Mrs. Thayer’s Simmons Middle School Class visited the Fleming County Senior Center last week to invite the seniors to a Veteran’s Day Breakfast. We are looking forward to them returning to participated in other volunteer opportunities and intergenerational programs with the participants at the Senior Center.

The seniors at the Fleming County Senior Center enjoyed some talented guitar music and singing by Kent Butcher and Ryan Nolder on Wednesday, November 1st. It was especially meaningful for one of our participants who got to see his cousin he hadn’t seen in a long time. Fleming County Senior AmeriCorps Volunteers visited the Space Science Center’s Star Theater at Morehead State University on Friday, October 13, 2023. They enjoyed the 90-seat digital theater that serves as a classroom and planetarium for the region’s educators. This trip to MSU was just a small way of expressing gratitude for the many volunteer hours that the Senior AmeriCorps volunteers in our region give so generously. We would like to thank each of you for your time and dedication to our agency. The Fleming County Senior Center Art Expressions Class led by Blake Carpenter enjoyed painting wooden Christmas ornaments in preparation for the upcoming holiday season. God’s Pantry made a generous donation of fresh vegetable to the Flemingsburg Baptist Church who made them available to the Fleming County Seniors. Everyone went home happy and grateful for all the fresh vegetables.

October is Mental Health Month and staff from Senior Life Solutions from Fleming County Hospital presented a Mental Health Awareness program and played Family Feud with the participants as a teaching tool.

The Fleming County Seniors shared a special bingo event with residents and staff from Kenton Point. It was nice to get together with our friends and socialize, play bingo, and share a meal. Our guest from Kenton Point were presented with a beautiful basket of decorative items to help make their home away from home just a little more special.
