Spoken word activist, educator, and author, Kirei is an artist known for unapologetically speaking her truth. As an advocate for mental health awareness, gender-equity, LGBTQIA rights, victims of violence, domestic and sexual assault, her art shares not only her experiences but sheds light on matters related to social justice.
Her love for community, art, and education led her to coach Flint's Brave New Voices youth poetry slam team, and lead various workshops for women and youth throughout the city, before relocating deeper into the Midwest and hosting a quarterly open mic series. Her work has been published in multiple online journals and publications, referenced in poetry and writing workshops and school libraries throughout the city of Flint. In 2017, she released her third self-published collection of poems, "These Words Live."
