an interesting, and factual read on piercing guns, “silent instruments” (piercing guns, but with a new name), and the reason we’re treated differently.

Piercers talk a lot about the risks associated with gun piercing or, as it's now called "silent instrument" or "pressure instrument" piercing, so we're not gonna do that.
Instead we're going to talk about the fact that despite being in the same jurisdiction for licensure, as a piercing studio we're legally obligated to provide a purpose made floor to ceiling private piercing room that's totally separate from reception for safety.
However, due to a loophole in licencing, shops like this one can offer piercing right on the shop floor, even to 6 month old babies, as long as they're "ear piercing only".
This exempts them from more than half the license requirements.
Unfortanately, infections don't always care via which hole they enter the body.
That being said, please be pierced in whichever environment you feel comfortable, just please be aware the licencing standards are massively different between professional piercing studios and shops such as this.
Licence requirements are public record so you are free to verify on the GCC website 🙂👍

is your piercing studio of choice testing spore tests at least 1x monthly to ensure their autoclaves and sterilization equipment is, in fact, actually sterilizing?

THEY SHOULD BE!! point blank period.

these autoclaves are the backbone of being able to offer a SAFE piercing— everything else withstanding, if you’re not sterilizing, you shouldn’t be piercing.

🚫 if your practitioner cannot prove that sterilization to you with the use of integrator or other indicator testing strips, that is an UNSAFE piercing. from the jump. 🚫

here at our little island oasis of safe procedures, we spore test bi-monthly with Mesa Labs!

we’ll also let you press the button on the statim-autoclave to start your own sterilization, if you want. getting involved is super fun!
