Happy 8th Birthday Axel!

✨Welcome Ember to the crew✨
She’s a 5 month old German Shepherd. We are going to see how she does with PSA (protection sports association) and get her into confirmation/show, and maybe some other dogs sports! Can’t wait to have so much fun with this girl.

For those of you wondering… Yes, I am still doing things with Avila 💕
Rue and Axel do not care for sports

Apollo is an 8 month old Rottweiler who will be staying with me for a board and train for basic obedience. He has such a calm demeanor 💚
We played tug, introduced our marker “yes” and did some name recall inside.

The humidity is coming in strong this week and it’s 75° by 8am. Missing our winter weather.
The single stroller had a flat tire, so we took the double. Cheyenne made sure we took her baby 😆

Samson is a 5 month old Australian Shepherd puppy who got reintroduced to the crate today.
Sampson is not a very confident dog has it right now, and he’s already displaying signs of anxiety. The crate will be fabulous for him to decompress in and not give him the opportunity to chew up blankets and baseboards.
To build up a positive association with a crate, we are starting with shorter duration times, crate games, and feeding in the crate.

Just like I tell my clients, hard work & consistency pays off! Avila received her Canine good citizen (CGC), AKC Novice Trick, ans AKC Intermediate Trick titles today! 🎉
Avila was good on CGC expect she would retreat/back up of someone came in to pet her. We went to pet friendly stores and asked many people to treat her and then eventually treat and pet. She welcomes being pet now. She also had to work on being brushed by someone other than me. You and your dog can do it!! Put in the time and be consistent ☺️
We start Rally training for competition tomorrow and Agility May 1st

Dottie is a 9 week old AKC Golden Retriever up for adoption! She is cuddly and playful puppy. After having her for a week, she is just not quite confident enough for service dog work. She is getting so much exposure and learning sit and down!

Potty training tips 🐶

Rue and Avila guarding the crossing for the street. It has been a while since I’ve had Rue jump on one of these blocks and it showed. Used encouraging tones and high energy to bring that confidence back! Just like us, dogs need to do something consistently to remain confident.

You are the reason I got into dog training. You are dog reactive and I had to hire a trainer. Luckily for me I got to shadow that trainer !!
I have learned so many things since my dog training days have started and know I will always be learning more.

*side note - Initially I wanted Axel to overcome reactivity in hopes to become a service dog. I got Avila shortly after when I found out he wouldn’t be able to. Avila did great and later got reactivity 🤣 go figure (we did take them out separately). I don’t need a service dog anymore and love my doggies. They may be frustrating at times, but aren’t all relationships? Doesn’t mean it’s not worth it 🥰

I’m now accepting board and train!

Duke went to Petco with me today. We worked on going on weird objects. He’s already got heel and sit going but he needs more confidence :)
