On any given day there’s over 400,000 children in foster care nationwide, over 12,000 in the State of Georgia and 800 in Northeast Georgia. 75% of these kids are getting reunited with mom and dad or adopted. Once they age out they are dependent on the government, homeless or having a child starting the cycle all over again. The system is underfunded focusing on basic care, leaving these kids with

a major disadvantage. Their environment isn't one they asked for nor is it providing them any opportunity for them to achieve maturity and financial standards. You can look the other way and say this isn't my problem. You can think someone else should cover the cost to fix this. Although it's not about cost, every child WE fail is costing you and I one million dollars ($1,000,000) in lost potential and social services for this child over the course of their lifetime. This is not what Jesus taught us. We can do more to serve and help his children. And now we're going to! With the establishment of Roots and Wings Ranch, this ranch will support up to 100 children when it is completely built out. We will provide these children love, stability, a relationship with Jesus and an opportunity “not a shirt” to help them grow into mature, financially stable Christians, breaking the cycle they came from. They will be placed with House Parents, ranch employees, whose only job is to support, love these kids. They will always bring their A game to them, making them number one probably for the first time in their life. This ranch is a big idea and it's a big project. The great news is it's been done before by John Croyle. John Croyle is the founder of Big Oaks Ranch in Gadsden, Alabama. They have perfected this model for over 48 years having served over 2000 children. You could say he's the inspiration behind this Ranch and will be a mentor for us as we get underway. The ranch will contain multiple facilities, with the goal of creating a community for these children to belong to. These facilities are designed to support the house parents and children's needs: Athletic Complex & Ball Fields, Pantry (onsite stores), Horse Barn and Admin & Maintenance Buildings to support the ranch. Our goal is to build homes, not houses. Homes with welcoming front porches. Our program is designed to support the children's mental, physical and spiritual growth. One that will foster their growth with love and dedicated parents whose only job is to raise their children. We understand these children are coming from various environments, all have suffered some form of abuse. Our counselors will design customized programs working alongside our house parents to help them write the next chapter in their life. If you pray to God to move mountains, be sure to have a shovel in your hand when you get off your knees.

What a wonderful surprise tonight! Roots and Wings was awarded a $2,000 grant from Gwinnett Giving Girls. So thankful for the opportunity to present our vision to
this group back in June. I had the privilege to network with some amazing nonprofits tonight. We are so appreciative! God is so good!

Roots and Wings Ranch mission is to advocate for children in crisis by leading them to establish a relationship with Jesus in a loving, stable environment so they may alter their life story. Their goal is to keep sibling groups together in homes with house parents, and they plan on starting the Ranch small with their first home, The Hausler Home, in 2025. Long-term goal is to have up to 20 homes with a total of 100 children on the Ranch based on local need.

VERY exciting news to share. Roots and Wings Ranch is now a certified Qualified Foster Child Support Organization (QFCSO). What does this mean? The State of Georgia has allocated funds for approved organizations like R&W where corporations and individuals can allocate their tax dollars going to Roots and Wings Ranch and NOT the IRS! This starts now in 2023. This is NOT a donation, it does not cost corporations money. It is allocating their tax dollars to go to foster care and we are SO thankful we received approval through the state. Friends, there is $18 Million dollars left in 2023 budget in Georgia to go towards what we are trying to do. I will be HAPPY to share more on how your company can use it tax dollars to our approved non-profit instead of the IRS. Companies must be preapproved. MUCH MORE TO COME!!! God is good!

We had a wonderful first fundraising event. 62 attendees and we exceeded our fundraising goal! Special thanks to our sponsors: Duluth Rexall, Coastal Breeze, Citizens Pharmacy, La Casa del Taco and Head Investment.

The food provided by Pocket Taco was SO good! Highly recommend them for any catering events! Teen Dads provided music- great job!! We are so thankful for all that were able to make the event. Casino night in February is next. Stay tuned. We have a drone video coming soon and more pics. Just a few pics that were sent in.

Today is National Foster Care Awareness Day. There are approximately 400,000 kids in foster care. On average, a child moves 7 times while in care. Kids need advocates!

In Region 2 of Northeast Georgia, there are over 881 children in foster care, yet only 160 approved homes in the region. So, what happens to the others? Siblings are split apart (sometimes hours apart), some go into group homes, or hotels. DFACs does the best they can, but they are simply overworked and understaffed. Roots and Wings Ranch will keep siblings together and keep children in the region close to mom and/or dad. We need to grow more foster homes and we ask you please share our page. We need to find land so we can get started. Jeremiah 29:11.

We are so blessed to have Big Oak Ranch in Alabama as a mentor. Big Oaks started a program called Planting Oaks to help people like us get started. Our team was honored to attend a Planting Oaks Intensive event two weeks ago to learn A-Z how a Christian Ranch is operated. In 1974, John Croyle started Big Oak with an amazing dream. Now, 48 years later the Ranch has served over 2500 children. Here is one of their commercials. Truly changing generations and breaking the cycle!
