Athlete of the week is backkkkkkk! Way to go Brock Adams - Swimming 🏊🏼‍♂️🏊🏼‍♂️🏊🏼‍♂️

Brock is a leader to all of the swimmers! He works very hard and always strives to improve. He’s always encouraging to the younger swimmers, sporting a positive and willing attitude. Brocks coach describes him as “the most wonderful young man!”

We are so saddened by the passing of Braves legend with the famous knuckle ball, Hall of Fame pitcher, but most importantly, Flowery Branch's own Phil Niekro. If you ever met Phil, you'd never know he had 318 career wins, a career 3.35 ERA, and over 3,300 strikeouts. Every time I saw Phil around town (mainly at Publix), he was always smiling and chatting it up with someone. You won't find anyone with a bad thing to say about the man.

Shooting her way into the spotlight this week is Morgan Aguilar - Junior - 🏀 Basketball 🏀

Morgan has had a very strong season, especially the second half! She is a key part of the Lady Falcons success on the court this season, helping lead them to 16 overall wins, 8 region wins, and a berth to the state playoffs!

Morgan is not only a leader on the court, but she is a leader off the court as well! Only in her junior year, she is near the top of her class in academics and one of the best students you could ever ask for. She works as hard in the classroom as she does on the court, and it shows.

I have a feeling we may see this young lady again next year! Keep working hard Morgan! 💪🏼💪🏼

With all the recent rain, Vincent has been sharpening his swimming skills by swimming to school!

Way to go Vincent Barbee - Senior - 🏊 Swim 🏊‍♂️. Vincent has worked very hard this year to improve his times in the pool. At their meet this past Saturday Vincent achieved a new personal record! He is respected by his teammates because of his character, work ethic, and trying to always lead by example.

Outside of the pool Vincent works very hard in the classroom as well. His teachers say that he is always engaged and participates without being called on. Vincent has the respect of a lot of his classmates, which was evident by how many of them said hey and shook his hand right before we took this photo! I hope he always keeps that firm handshake and always looks people in the eyes when they're talking to him, just like he did with me yesterday. He's a very impressive young man.

Way to go Vincent! Keep up the hard work 💪🏼

Let me take a minute to brag on Staci Rider... This amazing, strong, inspirational woman has been an integral part of my life for almost 4 years. Her lifelong dream has been to graduate college, and today she fulfilled that dream becoming the first person in her family to earn a 4 year college degree! Proud of her doesn't begin to describe how I feel. I've been through A LOT in the almost 4 years I've been an agent, and she has been there every step of the way. From running my office by herself (when needed) to being an amazing listener... Also for sticking with me through the relocation of my office and never losing faith in me, I could not be happier to have her as a key part of my team... But more importantly I could not be happier to call her a friend. She has stuck with me through thick (sometimes super thick) and thin which says a lot about her character and heart.

They say you shouldn't become friends with your employees... Well I'm sorry, but this is a friendship I value greatly. The sky is the limit for you Staci, and you will continue to have my full support! Way to go Staci!

It's a Locke! Way to go Ashlee Locke - Junior - 🏀🏀Basketball 🏀🏀

Ashlee is a walking double double! This season Ashlee is averaging 18.9 points and 12.7 rebounds per game for the Lady Falcons! Ashlee is an all around leader on the court, and has already committed to continue her athletic career and education at Mercer! And to think, she has another year left at Flowery Branch!

Off the court Ashlee's resume is very impressive (after all, you don't get into Mercer without a great resume)! She boasts a GPA of over 3.8 while taking AP classes AND doing dual enrollment taking college courses! And her hard work continues off the court as she is also a part of the work based learning program!

Impressive... Admirable... A great role model to everyone out there, and she can't even buy a scratch off lottery ticket yet. Keep it up Ashlee! FBHS and the community is super proud of you.

Making a STATEment this week is Macy Mealor - Senior - 📣 Competition Cheerleading 📣 !

Macy and her squad are fresh off of their state tournament this past weekend! While they didn't have quite the finish they wanted, 14th out of 54 schools in the state is nothing to be ashamed of! Macy is a leader on the mat, and has been since she began cheering! She leads by example both with her work ethic and holding others accountable!

Off the competition floor, Macy is very involved. Cheerleading runs deep within her blood as she is also a football cheerleader! Outside of cheer, she is also a member of the Youth Leadership Program and Spanish Honors Society!

Felicidades Macy! Keep up the great work and keep being a leader! 💪🏼📣

Dylan blocked the competition on his way to this award! Congratulations Dylan Bailey - Senior - 🏈Football🏈

Week in and week out Dylan is a top lineman for the Falcons. Against Marist, Dylan graded out with a 91% blocking grade, which is very strong 💪🏼. In that game he had 5 knockdowns and gave up 0 sacks! He is a big part of the reason that Jaizen Ellingham and the rest of the FBHS rushing offense has been so successful this season! Key blocks from a key player have yielded great on field results!

Off the field, Dylan's coaches commend him on his positivity and leadership. He is very involved in the classroom and around FBHS in general. His positive attitude rubs off on everyone around him. His coaches say he is everything they look for in an athlete and a great representation of FBHS athletics!

Tumbling her way into this week is Reagan Maday - Freshman - 📣 Competition Cheerleading 📣

Reagan is emerging just as the word describes, a cheerLEADER. She has been cheering in Flowery Branch since she was only 4 years old! This is her first year as a competition cheerleader, and with her passion for tumbling, she has started to shine at a young age! Her coach raves about her flexibility within the team and her eagerness to do whatever the team needs.

Off the mat, Reagan has started off her high school academic career with a bang. Her teachers say she is always participating in class and eager to learn as well. When asked what she does for fun, Reagan said "cheerleading and tumbling is pretty much my life."

Her face lit up when she was presented with this award, which is exactly why I do this! Keep working hard Reagan, and keep smiling! 😬💪🏼

The stage is set for Kate! Way to go Kate Stage - Junior - 🥎 Softball 🥎 !

Not only is Kate the starting center fielder as a Junior, she's also a team captain! Kate is the type of athlete that leads by example and holds her teammates accountable. She sees greatness in everyone and as a leader can really pull it out of you! Kate played a key role as both a player and a leader in the Falcons run to a Sweet Sixteen finish in the state playoffs!

Off the field, Kate's resume is even more incredible. Kate is a member of BETA Club, HOSA, and Mu Alpha Theta (Mathematics Honors Society). Kate has also done multiple mission trips to Haiti, Guatemala and Honduras.

To say I was impressed is an understatement. Keep up the amazing work Kate!

This week's Athlete of the Week has a lot more going for him than just his awesome hair! Congratulations Jaizen Ellingham - Junior - 🏈Football🏈!

Jaizen's numbers this season are eye popping, especially considering he shares touches with another running back! In his last 2 games, Jaizen has 38 rushes for 350 yards and 6 touchdowns! Through 6 games, he has 79 rushes for 614 yards and 15 total touchdowns!

Jaizen is emerging as a leader on the team and has gained even more respect after overcoming an early season injury to post these numbers. Jaizen does what is asked of him without hesitation and is a very coachable young man. Off the field Jaizen works equally as hard in the classroom. His teachers say he is one of their best students because of the respect he shows to others, which was evident when he looked me in the eyes, gave me a firm handshake, and thanked me for this award.

To think.... This powerful running back is only a junior... So he will be wreaking havoc again next year! Keep working hard Jaizen!

There was nobody better to lead the pack than this weeks winner: Bella Brick - Freshman - 🏃‍♀️ Cross Country 🏃‍♀️!

Bella has hit the ground running in her first year in high school! The coaches say Bella is the best teammate you could ask for. She listens to her coaches and team leaders, and is very dedicated to improving! Bella finished 2nd in the county championship and WON her meet on 10/9! Oh and not to mention she's a three sport athlete, also playing Basketball and running Track!

Aside from running, Bella excels in the classroom. She already has 10 high school credits and is crushing it with a 4.35 GPA. She is a member of the Spanish Honors Society and volunteers her time at World Language Academy!

Hard to believe this special young lady has accomplished all of this and can't even drive a car yet! With three more years after this, I have a feeling we will be seeing Bella again. Keep up the amazing work Bella!

Congratulations Mady Roberts - Senior - 🥎Softball🥎

Mady is the definition of a student athlete! She is a 2x varsity captain and a true leader on the field. She has earned the respect of her teammates through her leadership. She leads by example and pushes her teammates to levels they didn't know were possible! Her teammates love playing with her which is evident from the picture!

Off the field Mady is taking college courses and is very involved in extracurricular activities, in her church, and in the community! This past summer Mady received the FCA Leadership Award!

Keep leading Mady! Leadership skills are important in every aspect of life! Congratulations and keep up the amazing work!

Athlete of the Week is back! Presenting my first 2019-2020 recipient: Senior 🏐Volleyball🏐 star ⭐️ Katie Williams! Katie is already enrolled in college classes, which will pay big dividends when she attends Belmont Abbey on a Volleyball scholarship next year! Katie also excels in Chorus, and her Chorus teacher says she is a natural leader in the classroom!

Coach Bryan Mavis said “Katie Williams is a leader on the volleyball team. She is literally the ‘go to girl’ on the team. She is the hardest worker on the court, at the net, and in the back row. She gets after every ball... She holds her teammates accountable for their play on the court - true ‘Captain.’”

Katie stood out among a strong list of nominees this week! Keep being a leader Katie! 💪🏼🏐

I was in PE, about to head to math. We did nothing in school the rest of that day but watch the news in shock. I’ll never forget the sadness I felt the entire day, and still feel every time I think 9/11/2001. Nearly 3,000 people didn’t make it home to their loved ones.
