Don't let skin rashes ruin your summer!!
Here's how to avoid common types of rashes so you can enjoy all your favorite summer outings.
HEAT RASH
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothes made of cotton
Exercise outside during the coolest parts of the day
• Cool off with fans, air-conditioning and cold showers
Change out of sweaty clothes
Drink plenty of cold water
SUN RASH
Avoid being outside between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when UV rays are strongest
• Cover your skin as much as possible-wear long sleeves and a wide-brimmed hat
• Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply as needed
PLANT-RELATED RASHES
• Learn how to identify poison ivy, oak and sumac
• Wear long pants while hiking or camping
• If your skin contacts one of these plants, rinse it immediately with rubbing alcohol, dish soap or laundry detergent, then wash it off with cold water
SWIMMER'S ITCH
Caused by parasites that burrow in your skin
Avoid infested waters (look for warning signs)
• Quickly dry your skin with a towel after swimming
