The Town of Forest City is set to resume the hydrant flushing program beginning at 11:45PM on Thursday, May 16 and lasting until approximately 5:00AM Friday. Hydrants are scheduled to be flushed on West Main St, Hardin Rd, Clay St, Vance St, Westwood Dr, Kent Dr, Edgewood Dr, Bellvue St, Owens St, and Ogle Dr.
The flushing program is routine maintenance that helps improve the Townβs water system to provide the highest quality water. Deposits, sediments, and other materials may accumulate in the water pipes over time, resulting in water discoloration, poor water flow, and/or changes in the taste and odor of the water. Flushing the water through the fire hydrants clears accumulated materials and gives the opportunity to verify appropriate water pressure in the hydrants and valves.
Residents experiencing discolored water or low water pressure during this time should flush faucets in their home for 5-10 minutes. If the issue persists, call 828-245-0149 to report the problem.
