B shift assisted Spindale on a house fire Tuesday, August 20th.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Billy Ray Samuel, Jr. as the new Fire Chief of Forest City. Chief Samuel began his employment with the Town of Forest City as a firefighter/EMT in July 2004 and has just celebrated 20 years of service to the Town. In 2014, Samuel was promoted to Captain, and was later promoted to Assistant Fire Chief in 2021. He has served as interim fire chief since the retirement of Chief Ferrell Hamrick. In addition to his service with the Town of Forest City, Chief Samuel has also served as a volunteer fireman with the Town of Rutherfordton and the Hudlow Volunteer Fire Department. Samuel holds a number of qualifying certifications and is a member of various emergency response organizations, including the Rutherford County Fire Chiefs Association, the Rutherford County Emergency Management Response Team, the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation, and the IAFC Terrorism of Homeland Security team.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of attending the annual picnic hosted by Rutherford Life Services and the Aktion Club of Rutherford County, where we had a fun-filled day of games, a BBQ lunch, and presenting medals and ribbons to the competing teams. We may not have taken the home the wooden bear trophy since we came in second place, but no worries there is always next year!

Forest City firefighters assisted Ellenboro Fire with a working house fire on Boss Moore Rd last night. It's great to provide assistance and also recieve the same help in return with our neighboring departments.

Forest City Fire Rescue has responded to 3 working fires since Thursday afternoon.
C shift responded on February 8th to a report of a house fire in the area of Crestview drive and Bethany Church Rd.
B shift responded to a fully involved abandoned house fire on February 11th just after midnight in the area of Bridges drive and Sietz drive.
C shift responded to another fire this morning, February 11th, around 8:30 am. to the area of South Broadway Street for a working house fire.
