Beautiful evening!
Tried doing a goat head count tonight. I think we are down to about 75. With several leaving this week ... change is good (sometimes)!
Everyone's favorite day ... shearing time.
Hopefully the Hog Island sheep will now enjoy the warmer weather headed our way. Lucky to have a great local shearer! Not an easy job!
Beautiful crisp evening.
Miss Blueberry Bagel has made some unlikely friends.
Wrapping up 23-24 kidding season. Our last "big one" as we have begun scaling it allll way back.
Total of 47 kids, 8 losses, 20 does and 27 bucklings! 3 kiko does born today.. looks like the girls are winning!
Yay to green grass... loving fake Spring!
Kidding season total as of today = 34 kids.
6 more ladies to go. π€Frankie wasn't too excited about being photographed.
Lambs are arriving β€οΈ
February.
At least these white faces make it bearable.
Tried telling these ladies that today would be a great day to have some babies ... would be great to kick of January baby palooza since we are on snow day 99 it seems!
First measurable snow in a long time. Goats are not digging it ... hilarious. Jaime tried coaxing two kids out and they refused π cattle seem to be loving it.
Christmas came early for group 1 of Goat Insanity. They looovvveeeee corn fodder! π½ β€οΈππ
That one in the middle looks like trouble.
Watching calves run and play never gets old. β€οΈ
Have to share the first calf of the season. β€οΈ
Today's adventures involved a single huge buckling ... mom delivered in the woods and refused to bring the kid back up with the herd. Jaime found the kid hidden very well. Such a difference between the Boer and Kiko instincts and mothering.
Our first set of Quints!
Holy moly. 3 kiko boys and 2 girls. Delivered unassisted, mom has them all under control. Oh my! Fall kidding is in full swing here.
Loving these 2 doelings!
Two days old and 11 lbs each... Acorn and Nutmeg β€οΈ
Happy Friday! Goat kidding palooza Part 1 is about to kick off ... hope some of the ladies take advantage of the weekend nice temperatures ππ«£πβ€οΈ
Very humbling enterprise...
We passed our NPIP inspection last week :) only had one problem... peacock escaped and it took a bit of teamwork to round him up .. the pokeberries were too irresistible apparently.
If you have any questions about the NPIP program please reach out. https://www.poultryimprovement.org/default.cfm?CFID=30450323&CFTOKEN=ef6e8f72d320634a-411AE2E8-0BFD-90E6-3FE9BC0D94D42CC0
2nd summer! It is a Maryland thing. Loving every moment of it.
That sad look when the girls are in sight ... "no one will let me out ... I peed all over my face and everything."

Gobble gobble!
Gosh I miss this barn and that 806. Thank goodness for old pictures.
Beautiful day at the Harford County Farm Fair. I had a lot of kids buy goats this year as fair projects... and I told them all that these are not show quality, they are market animals. But I was so happy today to see how well these 4Hers did with our goats. No first place, a few seconds, but all good things... Goats aren't easy. Not every family can spend hundreds of dollars for a fair project .. they all did a great job working with their animals. Super proud of them all β€οΈ
