Dodea McBride Elementary School

Today we wrapped up our participation in the national "Start with Hello" week by signing our promise banner to make sure EVERYONE feels included at school! The purpose of the "Start with Hello" campaign is to encourage students to engage in conversation with different people, to stand up for others, and to make sure everyone is included.

This week, our students sat with new friends at lunch and participated in table talk discussions. They also learned how to be an upstander for themselves and others, and how to speak positive self-affirmations. On Wednesday, students and staff wore green as an outward expression of inclusivity, solidarity, and unity.

We would like to thank our amazing McBride Counseling Department for organizing this campaign and for teaching and modeling these ideas to our students daily. We had a wonderful week and look forward to maintaining our positive and inclusive atmosphere here at McBride!

📚 **McBride ES Welcomes Our Prekindergarten Learners!** 🎉

Yesterday, we hosted our Sneak-a-Peek event for our UPK and PSCD students and their families. Parents and little learners had the opportunity to meet their teachers and explore their vibrant new learning spaces. We are all geared up and excited to kick off our first day of Prekindergarten on Monday! Let’s make it a great year together! ✨

ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR SCHOOL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE
It’s now time to begin the process of selecting a new School Board Representative to serve for the next two years starting SY 2024-2025.

The role of the School Board Representative consist of the following:

• The Fort Moore School Board is an elected advisory group that meets monthly with the School District Leadership and the Post Command to discuss topics and make decisions that impact the education of students attending Moore Schools.
• School board members are expected to attend all open and executive session school board meetings.
• Participate in the development and oversight of fiscal, personnel, and educational policies, procedures, and programs.
• Provide counsel to the Superintendent on the operation of the school and the implementation of the approved budget.
• Participate in the development of school policies, rules, and regulations, in conjunction with the Superintendent, and recommend which policies shall be reflected in the School Policy Manual.

If you have ever considered serving in this capacity or would like to nominate an individual, please email names and contact information to [email protected] by 3:00p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024 and list School Board Representative in the subject line.

Nominees will then be contacted to obtain their permission to have their names listed on the ballot form for voting purposes by families.

McBride's Partners-in-Education (2nd BN, SFAB and 2nd BN, 47th Infantry) along with other military members greeted our military-connected students as we started school year 2024-25 with excitement. Ms. Smith (Principal) and Dr. Roberts (Interim Assistant Principal) would like to thank the military community for their support in making our first day of school a memorable event for McBride students.

McBride Elementary and Stowers Elementary participated in two days of Back-to-School training titled High-Quality Instructional Practices. Lots of teambuilding, making connections, and collaborative planning.

We are excited about beginning another year of teaching and learning at McBride! Please take note of the instructional day for students. Students cannot access the building before 8:00 am. Adult supervision starts at 8:00 a.m. Student safety is our utmost priority. Therefore, please do not drop your student off before 8:00 a.m.

Congratulations to our music teacher Mr. Dobbs! Today Principal Smith presented him with a pin and certificate for 15 years of federal service. He has been spreading his passion for music with military-connected students for 15 years!!! We celebrate this accomplishment!

Teacher assignments, car tags, and Chromebooks issued tomorrow (August 1st) at McBride Elementary School. Students in grades 3-5 are the only ones who will receive Chromebooks.

McBride Sneak-a-Peek is scheduled for Friday, August 2nd for students in grades K-5 and Thursday, August 15th for PreK and PSCD students. Parents can drop off their student's school supplies during Sneak-a-Peek. Make sure your child's name and grade level are on the bag of school supplies.

Have you considered joining the PTO?

The following positions are available for SY 2024-2025:

-President

The President shall preside at all meetings of this association and of the executive board. The president and treasurer shall review all contracts and obligations authorized by the executive board. The president shall sign all disbursements (checks) over a certain amount.

-Vice President

The Vice president shall assist the president and perform the duties of the president in their absence. They shall perform any other duties that the president may assign. Should the office of the president be vacated the vice president shall assume the duties of that office until a successor is appointed.

-Treasurer

Treasurer shall collect all accounts receivables, disburse the associations funds as directed by the executive board, and present financial reports to the executive board each month. The treasurer shall sign all contracts obligations and disbursements authorized by the executive board.

-Recording Secretary

The Recording Secretary shall keep a record of all meetings of the association and their proceedings. They shall keep a record of the minutes of the executive board meetings. They must submit a rough draft of these minutes to the president for approval and both must sign the minutes. The recording secretary shall maintain a historical file, consisting of the following permanent records: Constitutions, bylaws, records of approval of constitution bylaws, and all amendments, current list of members, and a copy of the last audit.

Congratulations to our very own Dr. Courtney Roberson! She has been promoted and she is the new principal of Dexter Elementary School! We are so proud of her and wish her the best in her new adventure!🎉💓🎉

We hope that our Fort Moore families are enjoying the summer. August 5th will be the first day of the school for our K-8 students. Universal PreK and PSCD students will start school Monday, August 19th. If you haven't registered your child for the 2024-25 school year, please use the QR code to do so.
