As one group of muscles contract, others lengthen. If your lats can't fully lengthen, your shoulders will be limited. If your quads can fully shorten, your hamstrings won't be able to fully lengthen.
This is something I'm always looking for when my clients come to me with restricted mobility.
First we assess the restriction. Secondly we treat it. Thirdly we train it in order to achieve long lasting change.
I tried to capture that relationship with this drawing of Hulk. As he contracts his his biceps and shoulders, his triceps and lats fully lengthen. As his traps and rhomboids retract his scapula , his pecs lengthen.
Some would call this reciprocal inhibition. The thought that when one muscle contracts the antagonist relaxes. But reciprocal inhibition has been proven to be false. The reality is that when one muscle contracts, the antagonist lengthens, not by relaxing, but by controlling the eccentric contraction. Without that control, injury would be inevitable.
That's why manual therapy should be followed by active training of both the antagonist and protagonist muscles groups. Strength and control of any given range of motion is the key for strong and healthy joints.
A fun way for me to study anatomy is to draw it. Thinking of creating some fun and artistic anatomy drawings and possibly make some cool prints with them.

I have learned that weight gain and obesity isn’t really our fault. That just eating less and moving more (calories in, and calories out), just doesn’t work for most people. That there is more to it than just “dieting.” I have learned that there are things like hormones that actually drive us to eat more than we should. That there are ingredients in today's food products that damage our metabolism. Many which cause us to have low energy and crave foods when we are not even hungry. I have learned that before I can focus on shedding off the pounds, I need to heal myself first.
