Enjoy the holiday weekend! Protect your hearing. Take care of your pets. And make time for yourself somehow too - you’ve earned it.
Extended through June 30th!
A “secret shopper” cold called 30 audiology practices coast to coast to see if front office staff could meet 5 criteria for providing service excellence. I learned yesterday that Terry, our amazing Patient Manager, was the ONLY PERSON IN THE COUNTRY to meet all five criteria! Thanks and congratulations Terry!
Hey all - Many of our patients who have Apple iPhones connected to their Oticon hearing devices like to stream music/audio to their hearing aids. It's kinda trippy - podcasts, music, YouTube vid audio, etc can all stream directly from the iPhone to the hearing devices, in stereo! Trouble is, sometimes the sound is too quiet; other times, it's too loud. Fear not - I think I've found a fix!
Click on "Settings" on your iPhone, scroll down and click on "Music”. Next, Scroll down and click on "EQ" (it's most likely set at "Off"). Scroll down a bit and you'll see a setting called "Late Night". Click on this to turn it on. Why? This setting makes quiet sources louder, and loud sources quieter. In other words, it reduces the dynamic range for the listener, keeping the audio levels more in the “sweet spot”. Yay - No need to keep messing with the volume control!
It's my understanding that ALL audio source content accessed from the iPhone passes through this processing before heading to your ears, not just downloaded music and other audio content that is stored on the iPhone. Wow!
If I discover more about this, I'll let you know. Thanks!
Dan Ostergren, AuD
PS: $1,000 off? Yes! We decided to officially extend the $1K off for a set of Oticon OPN S1 rechargeable devices through January 31, 2021. We’ve never temporarily reduced prices, but we all need a ray of sunshine heading into the new year!
Some have a natural advantage...

New research could help millions who suffer from ‘ringing in the ears’ In the largest clinical trial of its kind, researchers show that combining sound and electrical stimulation of the tongue can significantly reduce tinnitus, commonly described as “ringing in the ears.” They also found that therapeutic effects can be sustained for up to 12 months post-treatment.
A little do-it-yourself project for your hearing devices...
