TEDxCSU 2023 Speakers! ❌🌟
This is Leslie Taylor! From April 2018 to December 2021, she served as Vice President for Enrollment and Access at Colorado State University. In that role, she led a mission-critical division through the death of a former VP; supported staff and students in times of deep racial and social unrest; managed the impacts of significant institutional leadership changes; and helped mitigate the impacts of a global health crisis on students and employees. At CSU, Taylor served on committees and councils related to equity, including the Race, Bias, and Equity Initiatives Council, the Native American Advisory Council, the First-Generation University Initiatives, and the CDHE Equity Coalition, among others. In her time away from work, she enjoys exploring the Western Slope with her dog, reading, volleyball, live music, and following her daughter’s track and field endeavors at Western. Welcome to the TEDxCSU lineup, Leslie!

TEDxCSU 2023 Speakers! ❌🌟
This is Samantha Johnson! Samantha is a current student in her fourth and final year of veterinary school. She has spent the past four years working with sled dogs, volunteering with organizations to improve veterinary services in indigenous communities, and working on a survey project assessing access to veterinary care in rural Alaska. Her talk will introduce the unique challenges of rural Alaskan veterinary medicine and the necessity of supporting these communities in caring for their animals. This is Drew Hsu! Drew is an artist hailing from Northern Colorado. After attending art school against the wishes of his strict immigrant parents, Drew went on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Drew possesses a deep love of knowledge, and this curiosity led him to collect multiple mentors and apprenticeships. Over the past 3 decades, Drew has compiled a variety of expertise in the artistic field. He has been known to perform fire dances, blow glass, cast bronze and weld life-sized sculptures. He is well known for his ability to rig liquid propane through his creations and send massive fire bursts into the sky. Welcome to the TEDxCSU lineup, Drew!

For Kent Washington III: A self-identified Culture Cultivator from Colorado Springs, Kent Washington III is an emcee, poet, DJ, entrepreneur, lighting designer, event coordinator, talent buyer, and cultural activist. Using Hip-Hop to bridge the gap between societal healing and creative expression. Kent is known for his passionate wordplay, high energy, and eclectic content. Inspired to inspire others through art. As an independent and multidimensional artist, music is Kent’s passion. Kent has worked with some of the biggest artists including Jhene Aiko, Lupe Fiasco, Waka Flocka Flame, Casey Veggies, J.I.D, Cousin Stizz, Chris Travis, Wifisfuneral, Eric Bellinger, Flatbush Zombies, King Los, Bbymutha, Chaz French, Dizzy Wright, Hopsin, Snow Tha Product, Problem, Naughty by Nature, Jarren Benton and YMCMB's Caskey. Kent continues to make waves within the Rocky Mountain region and beyond.
Cei Lambert is an artist, educator, and activist. Cei was born and raised in Colorado, where easy access to the outdoors helped him develop a deep love for the natural world. Cei is a Colorado State University alum, receiving a BS in Wildlife Biology and a BFA and MFA in Fine Art. Cei has a varied career, including adjunct art professor, factory loom builder, textile designer, and scifi/fantasty book cover illustrator. Cei has invested over 17 years in advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights at the Fenway Health Transgender Health Program and the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center, and the Berklee College of Music. Cei founded Diversity Consulting, Inc. providing bespoke justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion consulting services within the healthcare, higher education, and private sectors. Cei owns Meadowlark Tattoo in Fort Collins specializes in botanical and scientific illustration tattoos for people of all genders, colors, body types, and identities. Cei also teaches textile art at Colorado State University in the Department of Art and Art Education.
Kyle Oldham was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. Kyle has spent over 15 years and gained national notoriety within student affairs through training, facilitation, event planning, and motivational speaking. Kyle has served at Colorado State University for 8 years as the Director Workplace Inclusion & Talent Management for Housing & Dining Services. As a trainer and facilitator Kyle believes everyone should learn about themselves in relation to others and realize the impact our actions and thoughts have on others. Education & Awareness are the tools we need most in an ever-changing world, where we are challenged to be our best selves. Kyle’s personal interest include watching movies, reading X-men and Avengers related comic books, doing puzzles, playing in both a kickball and flag football league, dancing and living life to the fullest.
Dr. Ashley Harvey is an associate professor and Director of Undergraduate Academic Affairs in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Colorado State University and an award-winning teacher. Since 2007, Dr. Harvey has taught 15 different courses in 150 undergraduate and graduate sections and over 10,000 students. Dr. Harvey is a licensed marriage and family therapist and earlier in her career worked at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital as a grief counselor and educator.
Joy Enyinnaya is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Journalism and Media Communication at Colorado State University. Joy’s research centers social identities in online spaces, specifically social media for marketing and branding. Joy uses the intersection of technology interface, user interaction, and cultural ideology to understand self-presentation online. Joy describes her theory building process that describes a theoretical framework for studying African women’s technology use within culture.
Paul Rose, an undergraduate student in the Music Department, will walk us through the normalized western conception of musical education. The talk will take the audience through different historical references and influence of music. Ultimately, Paul will provide recommendations on tangible ways that the audience could advocate for a more inclusive and progressive interpretations of musical education.
