Best example of a fainted queen I've seen. Yes, queens will faint.
A customer's hives had to be move back today to make room for tree removal equipment coming in a week. Took the winter insulation off and swapped the bottom box to the top. Both hives are busting with bees! Even some potential dandelion honey on top. All went very smoothly.

Bees need food up to a month earlier than provided by recommended pollinator plants Plant species which are recommended as 'pollinator friendly' in Europe begin flowering up to a month too late for bees, resulting in low colony survival and low production of queens. This research has quantified the decline in colony survival and queen production due to a shortage of early season fo...

Just keep at it! Beekeeping can be very hard, but it can also be so rewarding!
“If you want to be successful, you need to be bad. Then you need to be good and when you are good, you need to fail.
"When you fail, you’re going to figure it out. There is a process. There are steps you need to fill. There are no shortcuts, it’s a journey,” Nikola Jokic
Scientists Uncover Why Bees Are Making Less Honey The study found that climate conditions and soil productivity — the ability of soil to support crops based on its physical, chemical and biological properties — were some of the most important factors in estimating honey yields.
Your favorite beekeepers wishing you the best in 2024 🐝
BEES! Going bizzerk! It's been so warm that I decided to put some pollen out for the bees. Their so happy.
Bee careful though, this warm weather means the bees are so active they can eat all their reserves and starve. So, make sure your bees are well feed.
Unfortunately, their extra activity also means they will wear themselves out too, and there's nothing that can be done about that, except having enough to last the season!
Late season splits going into indoor storage for the winter. I hope to be able to pulls these out and feed them up for mating nucs come early spring. I may also send some to California to strengthen some smaller hives before the almonds.
They are truly yummy. Always a pleasure to try the new flavors.
Our final collaborative truffle is from our long time partner Copoco's Honey . Honey lends a beautiful flavor and texture to a chocolate confection. These flavors are versions of our holiday flavors but with the addition of honey which adds a dimension that changes them in a delicious way. Copocos Honey has many other honey healthy options and is a great place to shop for the holidays or any day.

Who do you usually think of when you hear "pollinators"? Maybe a graceful butterfly, or a chonky bumblebee?
While the colorful, fuzzy, and cute pollinators are important, there are some unsung heroes of the pollinator world!
🪲 Beetles! Beetles pollinate magnolias, spicebush, and other plants! They are particularly attracted to large, bowl-shaped flowers.
🐝 Wasps! They do more than ruin your picnic! Wasps are important for pollinating many fruit trees!
🦟 Mosquitos & midges! What?! Mosquitos are actually *good* for something? Yes! Many mosquitos actually drink nectar and pollinate plants. Midges in tropical regions pollinate cacao plants! So, if you're a chocolate lover, you've got midges to thank. 🍫
What's your favorite pollinator?
