Well, Katie Piccolo Branches of Love Birth Services and I were recently voted as the top labor and birth doulas in the 2023 Reader’s Choice Best of NOCO vote, so naturally our wheels started turning…

All we can say is that when two doulas with 20+ years of experience put their heads together, BIG things start to happen that you won’t want to miss.

Exciting news at Branches of Love Birth Services! I am extremely honored to officially announce that I was voted best Doula in the Readers’ Choice Best of NoCo! I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to vote and support me! I am so proud of the work I do and it is such an honor to support families in Northern Colorado! The first Sunday in May each year (the week before Mother's Day) is a special day to have our never-ending grief acknowledged because of our never-ending love for our child who is no longer here with us.

1 in 4 of your friends have lost a baby.

1 in 8 of your friends struggle to get pregnant.

Pregnancy is not a joke.

To say I adore my job is an understatement! It is an absolute honor being a doula. I see people at their highest highs and lowest lows and everything in between. I get to walk alongside families in one of the most intimate journeys they ever will walk. I have dreamed of doing birth work my entire life and to be able to do this work for over the last 7 years is beyond amazing! As World Doula Week comes to an end, I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all the families who have trusted me to be their doula! Also, a huge thank you to my family and village who have supported me since day one! 💗

Partners and doulas are like peas and carrots! 🥰

“Why do I need a doula if I have my partner present? I want my partner to be involved as much as possible.”

A good doula won’t be a replacement for a partner, but rather a liaison and an assistant! Here are a few ways a doula can help partners find their place in the birthing room.

❤️ Figuring out a partners desired role by asking questions like “How do you see yourself participating in this birth?” and “What’s your comfort level?”

❤️ Reassuring partners on the process of birth by answering questions and addressing any concerns that may come up. Doulas are great at helping reduce fear and anxiety!

❤️ Even the most hands-on partners need a break during labor to go to the bathroom or refuel. Doulas can provide a welcome break for partners while still offering continuous support to the birther.
