Spotted: A resilient, tailless alligator was seen strolling through a Cape Coral neighborhood on Halloween morning! The person who captured the moment said it looked like the gator was just moving from one pond to another, though she has โno idea how the poor gator lost its tail.โ ๐ CBS News
Alligators are incredibly tough and can adapt to survive even with severe injuries. Their unique physiology allows them to recover from trauma that would be life-threatening to most other animals, including the loss of limbs or tails. Despite missing a tail, which is essential for balance and swimming, this gator is finding a way to thrive. Just another example of how resilient Floridaโs wildlife is! ๐ด
Happy Friday! Aren't these gators so well behaved during feeding time?
The boys down in the pit feed our rescued alligators once a week to meet their dietary needs in a way that keeps them healthy and active. Our alligators require a diet that balances lean protein and essential vitamins, much like in the wild. They primarily consume chicken, fish, and occasional red meat, which provide the protein necessary for growth and muscle maintenance. Alligators are cold-blooded, meaning they metabolize food slowly, so their feeding schedule is adjusted accordingly. The weekly feedings keep them from becoming sluggish and overweight, ensuring they maintain their natural behaviors and health. ๐
๐ Happy Halloween from all of us at Everglades Holiday Park! ๐
Today was spooktacular as our amazing team got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up in their favorite costumes! From gators to ghosts, superheroes to swamp creatures, we had a blast celebrating with a dash of Everglades style.

Check out JJ and Fahrenheit flirting with each other down in the gator pit! What do you think they are saying to each other?
Alligators have a unique way of communicating, especially when it comes to making their presence known: they bellow! This deep, rumbling sound serves a few important purposes in an alligatorโs life. Male alligators are most likely to bellow during the spring mating season to attract females and establish their territory. This powerful sound travels through both water and air, sending a message to other gators that this area is already claimed. Interestingly, alligators also bellow to communicate with each other, showing off their strength and size to potential rivals or warning others to keep their distance. Itโs a reminder of just how fascinating these ancient creatures are, each bellow revealing more about their behavior and the wild world they inhabit. ๐
Uh, thatโs gonna leave a mark! Check out the bite power on this decent sized gator! ๐
Make your Everglades adventure even more unforgettable! After your airboat tour, get a one-of-a-kind photo with a baby alligator for an additional fee. Hold a real gator, snap a unique picture, and bring home a wild memory thatโll last a lifetime! ๐๐ธ
From all of us at Everglades Holiday Park, we extend our deepest condolences to Dingo's family, friends, and fans for their heartbreaking loss.
RIP Dingo ๐ Dingo was a beloved figure, known for his passion and dedication to wildlife. Tragically, he passed away due to an allergic reaction to snake venom after being bitten by a green mamba. Despite efforts to administer antivenom, he suffered a severe reaction that ultimately led to his untimely passing. This loss is deeply felt by everyone who knew him and admired his work with animals.
Dingo's contributions to wildlife conservation and education were immense, and his legacy will continue to inspire many. He touched countless lives through his dedication, and his absence leaves a significant void in the community.
During this difficult time, we ask that you keep Dingo and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Let us remember his courage, his passion, and the joy he brought to so many. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us all.

Man Approaches Too Closely, Alligator Reacts! While this behavior is unusual, an alligator might give chase if it feels threatened or cornered, especially if the person gets too close to its territory, nest, or young. Alligators may react this way if they have been fed by humans before, associating people with food and becoming more aggressive. Sometimes, during mating season, male alligators become more territorial, making them more likely to exhibit defensive behaviors like chasing intruders away. ๐ ๐ฝ Kooks On Camera
