Planning Commission Meeting | Tuesday, July 16 @ 7:00 p.m. in the Shanis Auditorium at 520 Virginia Drive | See the meeting webpage for agenda, viewing and participation information: http://upperdublin.net/meetings

A large power outage is affecting community members in the North Hills neighborhood and parts of the East Oreland neighborhood.

PECO and Upper Dublin Township are aware of the outage. PECO is addressing the issue with an estimated power restoration date of Wednesday, July 17th.

IF YOU ARE WITHOUT POWER:
• Seek respite in a cool place until power is restored.
- Visit a loved one's home.
- Go to an air conditioned building, such as the Willow Grove Mall.
- The Upper Dublin Library is available to cool down & charge your devices. Wi-Fi is also available.

• Stay hydrated.
- Avoid caffeine & alcohol (both cause dehydration).

• Keep your exterior doors and all windows closed. Close curtains, blinds and shutters to keep light and heat out of the house.
• Avoid cooking indoors.
• Do not open your refrigerator or freezer.
• Check on your neighbors and loved ones.

IF YOU HAVE POWER:
• Check on your neighbors and loved ones, especially the elderly and anyone with health conditions.
• If possible, invite friends/neighbors who do not have power to stay in your home until their power is restored.

If you are aware of anyone in the North Hills or Oreland area who needs particular help during this power outage, please call 215-643-1600 ext. 3221 with information. The Township is here to help.

NOTE: Due to the power outage in the North Hills neighborhood, the opening of the Upper Dublin Township Community Pool today (Tuesday, July 16) may be delayed. Upper Dublin Township staff is currently working to get a generator up and running. Please stay tuned for when the pool will open. We will provide an update ASAP.

Fireworks Tips for Pet Owners and Veterans 🎆

There will be many fireworks displays this week. Please understand that these displays can be stressful for pets and our veteran community. Below are some tips to help ensure that everyone can have safe and enjoyable experiences. We ask that you share this information with your family, friends & neighbors.

âž¡Tips for pet owners:
1. Create a Safe Space: Set up a comfortable area indoors where your pet feels secure. Close windows and curtains to help muffle the sound of fireworks.
2. Keep Pets Indoors: Ensure your pets are inside well before the fireworks begin. This prevents them from running away due to fear.
3. Update Identification: Make sure your pets have up-to-date ID tags and microchips in case they get lost.
4. Use White Noise: Play calming music or turn on the TV to help drown out the noise of the fireworks.
5. Stay Calm: Pets can sense your anxiety. Stay calm and offer reassurance without overreacting to their stress.

âž¡Tips for Veterans
1. Plan Ahead: If you know loud noises can be triggering, plan to be in a safe and comfortable place during fireworks displays.
2. Noise-Canceling Headphones: Consider using noise-canceling headphones or earplugs to reduce the impact of the loud sounds.
3. Support System: Inform friends or family members about your concerns so they can provide support if needed.
4. Breathing Exercises: Practice deep breathing exercises to help manage anxiety.
5. Safe Space: Find a quiet area away from the main event where you can still enjoy the festivities without the loud noises.
