What’s the secret of a great massage? Listening.
And I mean more than just listening to what our clients say. This is a given.
I’m talking about listening to the body.
How does the client carry their body? What temperature is their skin? Does the muscle tissue feel hydrated? Inflamed? Malleable? How do the muscles respond to the touch? Is the client breathing deeper or are they holding their breath?
These are just a few of the questions any massage therapist worth their sheets is constantly asking themselves.
These are the sorts of observations that quickly grow into intuition. It all starts with listening.
Let me know, when you’re laying on the massage table, can you tell the difference between someone who knows how to listen to your body in this way vs someone who doesn’t?
Happy anniversary to us!!! I LOVE YOU, Spencer!! 🥰💚💚💚

Our body language reveals SO MUCH information about us. As a massage therapist, I’ve learned to look at the way a person sits, stands, walks, etc. These visual cues (+ the client’s goals) tell me what muscle groups I’ll be working on. It allows me to start crafting a treatment plan long before the client is on the massage table.
Isn’t life an adventure? If 10 years ago, someone would’ve told me I’d be giving therapeutic massages with my feet for a living, I wouldn’t have believed it. (But I would’ve definitley sat down to hear more. 😆) It’s nice to know that sometimes reality can surpass even your wildest dreams. ✨
Could you have predicted 10 years ago that you’d be where you are today?
The Calm Heart website got a new look!! You'll find the new site easier to navigate, as well as some new additions to the blog. (More like a total revamp of the blog-- the old one was looking ROUGH. 😆)
Check it out and let me know what you think: www.calmheartmassage.com 💛
Here’s a quick reminder for us both: If I’m comfortable, I’m not growing. Sometimes this is easier said than done, since my comfort zone feels like I’m laying on a table warmer on a cold winter day. 😌❄️ Nevertheless, here’s to never getting comfortable, friends! What’s your mantra for the day?
They say, “Home is where the heart is,” and for me that couldn't be more true! I first started feeling at home in my work when I did my very first practice massage while in massage therapy school and ever since then, I've been obsessed (yes, the tiktok sound is playing in my head as I write this 😂).
To me, there’s just something about seeing someone come in tired, tense, perhaps with limited mobility in a certain area, and leave relaxed, with much more movement and most importantly, a smile. That certainly feels like home to me.
Where is home to you?

This answer may surprise you: The thing that has the greatest influence on my business is prioritizing my own self care. Here’s why: Not only does it help me show up as my best self, ready to serve others (you can’t pour from an empty cup!), it also keeps my values congruent with my actions. And we all know the magic that happens when we practice what we preach! ✨
What’s your favorite way to practice self-care?
Calm Heart Therapeutic Massage was created out of a NEED. It was right after the shut down and anxiety and depression were gripping communities, families, and loved ones. Truly believing in the healing powers of massage for the body and mind, I knew it was time to make my dream a reality. 💫
For me, every session is sacred and I do my best to make sure each person who lays on my table knows this. As we are approaching 2022, my heart is full knowing that I am helping my community with my massage services again, this time in Fort Worth!
Being a self-employed massage therapist isn’t always easy, but when I think back to the early days, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. If you need a break from all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, reach out! I’d be honored to help you find some peace. 💗
For those who didn't know, I have found the perfect little location to reopen my business! 🙌🏽🎉 I’m now located in Ridglea Village off of historic Camp Bowie Blvd in Fort Worth. The picture is of one of two entrances into the building— so cute, right?!!
Could you indulge me for a moment? Have you ever noticed how even the tiniest details about the holiday season seem to work together to make you feel all warm and fuzzy? From the warm food and hot drinks to the soft and stylish sweaters, everything about this season works in perfect harmony.
I like to think it’s the same with Calm Heart Therapeutic Massage. I focus on every tiny detail from quality of ingredients in my oils and creams, to the delicate nuances of the muscle fibers, to make sure your experience here is nothing short of a perfect harmony, too. Any questions come to mind? Please friend, fire away! I’m here to help!

I know this year looks different for many of us.
May you keep the gratitude in your heart as you celebrate this year.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 🍁
Saw this on one of the massage therapy group pages and thought it was too funny not to share. 🤣
👣 Just as there are seasons throughout the year, there are seasons throughout our lives that change, too.
When I first started my journey in massage therapy, I was living in Texas, dating Spencer, and had just quit my job at a large financial services company.
Now I own my own business, am happily married to the man of my dreams and ...dare I say it... I may even root for tomorrow 🏈 *maybe*—some things still require baby steps 🤣
I’m so grateful for these changes because it’s a reminder to appreciate the NOW + that nothing lasts forever.
What season are you in today? And who will you be rooting for? 🎉
👣 So often people aren’t looking for advice. They just want to be heard 💕
RP:
👣 Do you sit at a desk all day? Try this stretch to open your body and loosen up your hip flexors.
Ease into it and hold for one minute, each side. If you have sensitive knees, try using a towel as a cushion for the extended leg. ✨
RP:
PSA: We can talk about it. 💓
👣 It has been three whole months since I opened the doors to Calm Heart Therapeutic Massage.
I knew there was a part of me that was crazy for opening a massage business right after a government shutdown. I also knew that despite how crazy it sounded, this was actually the perfect time.
People (myself included 🙋🏽♀️) need the therapeutic benefits of massage now more than ever— physically, mentally and emotionally.
So many of us are experiencing extreme stress, chronic exhaustion and burnout. Anxiety is at an all time high. I just want to say that I am HERE FOR YOU.
✨✨✨✨✨✨
And to all my clients, new and established, I am blown away with gratitude for all the support, trust, and love shown to me as I launch this new chapter.
This journey is just getting started!! I am SO excited to meet more people in the and communities. & I can’t wait to introduce more people to the healing benefits of 💕
👣 Lol!!! If this is you, come see me! 😆
👣 I had no idea how much I would love Ashiatsu, aka barefoot massage. I became so enamored that I completed the fundamental, intermediate, AND advanced courses all in a year. (And I’m not stopping there! 😉🤘🏽)
I am trained and certified through the where the style is anatomically informed, myofascial release.
This is a *fancy* way to say that an Ashiatsu massage from me will consist of fluid and
s l o w movements, allowing for that deeper work so many of us need.
Time and time again, clients tell me that they are so happy to have tried Ashiatsu. However, even though more and more massage therapists are getting trained in this amazing modality, it’s still relatively unheard of.
Naturally, many people are nervous to give it a shot. I get it. MY OWN HUSBAND was on the fence when I first told him about it. (& yes, he is a firm believer of ✨Ashi magic✨ now. 😎)
So I just want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and give it a try! Every. Single. Person. who has ever told me they are nervous and unsure about letting someone walk on them, has been blown away after their session.
I offer a generous discount to make that initial leap less scary. DM me with any questions or text 817-938-1821.
Enjoy your Monday! ✨😊

👣 vs.
👣 One of my favorite muscles: the TRAPEZIUS. It just looks badass. It’s the most superficial muscle of the upper back. It stretches from vertebrae T-12 all the way up to the occiput, blanketing the shoulders and landing on the outside edge of the collarbone. It’s a relatively thin muscle.
What’s interesting is that the muscle fibers of the trapezius move in three different directions based on whether they are the upper, middle, or lower fibers.
Because of this, technically speaking, the trap is an antagonist to itself, i.e. the upper and lower fibers work against each other during certain movements. The only other muscle that has this push/pull relationship with itself is the deltoid.
The trapezius is at work when you hold a phone between your ear + shoulder or when you raise your arms in triumph.
